That 120 IBB in a season is like Cy Young's record for wins (511). It's never going to be broken. Second most IBBs in a season is 68, also by Bonds.

By comparison, Aaron Judge had 19 last year, and Yankee fans kept complaining during the second half teams weren't pitching to him. LOL

I seem to recall there being outrage about his elbow guard that it kept his swing plane always the same?

      Maybe I'm off on that...

Sure, maybe? I dunno. Everyone else just wear an elbow guard I guess.

I do see an argument for having it keep you compact on approach. Not sure about the swing plane though.

I only remember people complaining because he could get hit and it wouldn't hurt. Opposing commentators were always salty about that being unfair.

I don't remember hearing about it.

I still don't see the problem, at least in that anybody can apply the same thing to themselves.

Manfred open to a salary cap of some sort?

I wouldn't have a hard cap like we see in hockey, that's ruined things big time for that league (major markets being anchored by the weak ones which has hurt the potential growth in revenue). But maybe some bigger tax hits on teams over the luxury tax?

And also, have a revenue sharing floor (I'd say 40% less than the prior years league average or median (whichever is lower)). So if the average is 115m and median is 105m, the 105m number is used and 40% less than that is 63m.

Using last years payroll numbers, 4 teams would be under that.

If you're under that, you don't get revenue sharing. If you need revenue sharing that badly that you cant spend that percentage, maybe you shouldn't own the team (or the team shouldn't be in that market if you can't spend close to half the amount the middling team can spend).

NHL teams have found workarounds like retained salary transactions where a bottom of the league team retains salary so they get to the floor and the other team has a smaller payroll hit, and all it costs is a pick (or prospect in MLBs case).
I'm not for a hard cap personally. I also strongly dislike the false cap with huge penalty (Cohen Tax) we have now. Just stop with limiting payroll and let the players decide the market.

On the contrary I'm strongly in favor of a salary floor. However I would rather see it implemented differently.

I'd be in favor of if any team is below the average league salary by X% for >50% of the last arbitration agreement, ownership should be forced to sell the team or serious consideration should be given to relocation.

I'm tired of seeing owners like we have in Oakland, and I'm tired of seeing potentially really great franchises like TB be hamstrung by either poor owner funding or poor location.

Basically I'd be more for owner movement or team movement than we have today. Get the owners out who see it only as an investment and get rid of markets that just aren't working.

I'd rather bring up the bottom than cap the top.

Agreed, I remember thinking "So...?" myself. I still think Bonds was colluded out of playing.

I think they didn't want him to keep going to make those records out of reach.

Lots of teams could have used his services in 08. Orioles could have had him at DH would have been better than Luke Scott. Nats could have used him in LF would have been a huge improvement over Willie Harris and would have put butts in the seats.

Of course Manfred is for a salary cap, owners have always been for a salary cap. It is the players who don't want it.

And there is -100% (that's right, negative ) chance of a salary cap being implemented and not a salary floor or vice versa.

Did anyone else see Anthony Rendon get into an altercation with a fan?

Fan apparently called him...a female dog...

And Rendon snapped, grabbed the dude by his shirt, and tried to slap him. Of course, in Rendon fashion, he didn't make contact.

                          Suspension worthy?

Just saw the video, yes suspension worthy. Can't have players grabbing fans and swinging at them (not that big of a swing, but still). I wouldn't ban the fan for calling him a bitch and Rendon overreacting, but I wouldn't be surprised if they did.

Yeah you have to suspend him for that. Can't do that to a fan that's in the stands. I expect a pretty big suspension too
