A few MLB commercials that just cracked me up the past few years:

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

When the baseball smacked into the side of my head, it was traveling 105 miles per hour. Yet somehow I didn’t hear a sound.

Great read in Players Tribute "from" Matt Shoemaker about his injury.

Here is how little chance the Padres had to win today...

Kershaw is going to make $33 million this year. The entire Padres' Opening Day roster is set to make $34.6 million combined this year.

I have a MLB tv/ At bat year subscription, any Oser who wants the login shoot me a message.

I don't know how it works as I don't follow baseball but if it's like NBA league pass all New York teams games will be blacked out.

It's based on the location of the IP address of where you are at with your device (as I'm pretty sure NBA Pass is as well). So in team who is being shown on a channel in the local viewing area would be blacked out.

Sucks to hear that Pedro Guerrero had a massive stroke and is in dire condition. Hopefully he gets well soon. Hall of Very Good type player and one of the guys lots of people forget about when mentioning the best players of the 1980s.

I remember one of my first handheld baseball "video games" was Baseball All Stars by Tiger Electronics and he featured prominently on the NL All-Star Team.

A random thing that got me thinking...If there was a starting pitcher who had crazy fast speed, would his team let him be pinch running in days he's not starting?

                  Not likely.

Pitchers condition with long distance running but not short running. So on top of injury concerns with adjusting to that since they aren't accustomed to running the bases you can be as fast as you want but still not know how to run the bases.

I would say you probably can't rule it out in a dire situation but you aren't likely to see it on a regular basis.

Boston's Steven Wright got hurt after being used as a pinch runner last year.

I have a vague memory of Bobby Cox using Smoltz as a pinch runner on a semi-regular basis in the early-mid 90s.

                      Sheesh!

Clint Frazier apparently asked the Yankees if they un-retire numbers as he asked for Mickey Mantle's number 7

I love when writers write article chastising people only to be proven wrong. First saying his immaturity somehow caused the hair fiasco, and then also that it caused this, which never happened. Fun read that was.

I agree with Kehlis's point that it's probably not likely due to the risk of injury. It does happen on occasion, but more likely with a reliever than a starter.

Pitchers don't run pure distance to condition anymore, thankfully. That was a tired practice that had no basis in science.

Can you go use your time machine to go back and tell my college coach that please? Current me would greatly appreciate it. You only have to go back to 2002.
