So...did the Astros just do it better than everyone else?

Well there was speculation that a lot, if not all teams, were doing something similar in nature which prompted Manfred to send out the notice before the 2017 season that using electronics to steal signs was now against the rules and considered cheating.

My personal opinion is that yes, the Astros built a better mousetrap.

I guess my point is if everyone was doing it, maybe it’s that the Astros are a good team.

Also, I thought Manfred sent out the letter at end of 2017? The report says Yankees did this through the 2017 season...

Gotta say, as a Mets fan I’m pretty happy about us firing Carlos Beltran. He clearly wasn’t ready to be a manager and only got the job based off name value. I seriously would have rather just kept Mickey callaway instead. Would love for us to go after Showalter now because this is what this team needs. A veteran manager that knows how to use the damn bullpen

Don’t forget the last time Buck was in a playoff game he lost it with Ubaldo Jimenez on the mound with Zach Britton standing in the bullpen on the road.

LOL...heck, no. Braves fan. I do find it interesting the reactions people have to this given it sounds like everyone was doing/benefitting from it. Why are players like Altuve suddenly a cancer/evil?

I think the Astros are a good team. I think to completely write them off "as lucky" and only won through cheating, is a bit over the top.

And he may have sent out the letter after the 2017 season, as I may be misremembering. I just know the letter and 2017 go together..

Yeah I remember that lol, but tbh I still think he’s a much better choice than anyone else available at this point in the offseason. Let’s also not forget that he won Basically 90 games with a Rangers team that had just traded away the AL MVP and then won 93 and a wild card game with an Orioles team that nobody expected **** from

Until I see significant evidence that’s the case, I’m going to assume that he was fired

Are you talking about when Larry Rothschild called down to ask if a pitch was a strike?

No, Martino said the team used SNY cameras to decipher opposing catcher’s signs and would relay to the dugout who would then relay to the batter (I assume via some code word). According to Martino’s article the Yankees did this from 2015-2017.

His article made it sound like this was in addition to Rothschild’s phone deal...

Or maybe the top guys making the top money get the top equipment. Having everyone wired would be too obvious.

Maybe umpires should start patting everyone down now. Where's Frank Drebin when we need him.
