The Twin Cities one looks ok as an alternate, but there wasn't any reason (besides money) to change looks if that's all they had in mind.

I kinda like them. They are a little boring, but that sort of simple text without shadows/outlines sort of adds a classic twist to a modern design. I feel like they could have done a bit more with the blue alternate though, and I agree that the "M" hats look like a bad version of a Marlins hat. I also don't know that I like the very light pinstripes on the road grays. I feel like you should just pick a lane...go dark pinstripes or don't do any

I don't mind the Home Whites, but all of those hats are God awful. Is that a space needle on the hat? The road unis look straight outta the 50s. Maybe I'm too old to "get it".

The "M" on the hat with the North Star on it is exactly like the Marlins "M" as has been mentioned. That is a fail.

The creme "Twin Cities" uniforms are a Royals ripoff. That is a fail.

The rest, I'm fine with. Clean, classic look that won't be embarrassing to look at 20 years from now.

Which sucks too because the other Minny teams have nice looks. Twins could've established a look like what we see with the TWolves and Wild.

So it looks like Daniel Bard wins this years award for the most obscure down-ballot-MVP-vote-getter

EDIT: Also if someone could explain how Bard has a higher bWAR than Edwin Diaz? Is that just the Coors effect?

                  Re: MLB Off-Topic

Yeah, I don't get that. Diaz has a fWAR of 3.0 and Bard 1.8 which sounds about right. Bard had a very good season, but his babip was .221 compared to .330 for Diaz. I know that fWAR for pitchers is characterized as more as "what should had have happened" and bWAR is more "what it happened". But even straight up what it happened is that Diaz had a more dominant season than Bard.

Diaz had 49 more K's in 1 and 2/3 innings more (as in 5 more outs). Diaz faced 235 batters, Bard 245. Diaz had 7 less walks. Same amount of homers allowed. 3 less earned runs for Diaz.

                  Whatever :P

I guess it is some kind of park factor adjustment for Coors like CB said. Or babip. Too late, I'm going to sleep

                      Re: MLB Off-Topic

fWAR uses FIP in its calculation while bWAR uses RA/9.

                      Bard
                      FIP 2.86
                      RA9 2.24

                      Diaz
                      FIP 0.90
                      RA9 1.31

I don't know enough about each factor to comment on how they weigh in the totals. That's just what I can see a the difference in the two.

Right, so Diaz is still better in both, so why is his WAR lower than Bard's?

My only guess is that the park factor carries more weight in bWAR than fWAR....regardless it definitely shows how WAR is not always a great measuring stick for pitchers, especially relief pitchers. Looking at the peripherals is often more helpful, which Diaz obviously dominated in

my understanding is a pitchers own defensive support and his high leverage situation factor into their WAR.
it seems those two stats are weighed too heavily IMO and need dialed back a bit
gives Bard the upperhand over Diaz in WAR
