At the start of the year, yeah, but Guerrero hasn't played 3B lately.

The bat is awesome enough that he shouldn't platoon, period.

Beginning to think we robbed the Rays for Mike Montgomery. He has been lights out this year. Jack Z's 1st good trade in about 6 years.

As of about a week ago they stopped platooning. With Ethier entrenched in LF Guerrero pretty much spells Turner, Ethier, and Kendrick (When Callaspo doesn't play) and pinch hits now.


Doesn't really matter though as Turner or Guerrero (maybe even both) are likely to be traded once Hector Olivera gets called up. He'll be the everyday Third Baseman and if the Dodgers re-sign Kendrick, Olivera will be the third baseman for a while. He's on the 7 Day DL at AAA right now, but he'll be up after the All Star Break most likely rather than what was supposed to be this week or next.

In the 24 games since Juan Uribe has been traded, Turner has started 14 games at 3B versus Callaspo's 10. No, Justin Turner isn't going to keep hitting like Mike Trout, but even if he profiles as above-average rather than best hitter in baseball going forward, that's still worth starting every day instead of Alberto Callaspo.

I agree that with Olivera coming up, Turner becomes something of an expendable piece and ultimately gets traded near the deadline. You can't have Carlos Frias or Mike Bolsinger start a playoff game.
