Re: 2015 MLB Hot Stove thread
I guess going from a bad tactician to another one that is just more likeable. I didn't see all the praise from Columnists on Baker coming. guess timing off helps. They better give him a roster where he can't screw it up.Wolverines Packers Cubs Celtics

Not happening. I mean you can never count out the Marlins do anything stupid, but Dee Gordon is one of the best fits for this ballpark/team possible

Re: 2015 MLB Hot Stove thread
Dusty Baker will at least have the guts to stand up to any shenanigans in the clubhouse but Strasburg's arm will drop off in a year or two.
Good luck with that Nats fans.
Jays picked up the options on Bautista, Encarnacion and Dickey. They declined the option on isturis opting instead to buy him out for a million bucks. Talk about a guy who completely dropped off the cliff. I remember when we got Isturis we were all "this guy is going to be a rock at 2B" oh well.
Next for the Jays is whether they make the 15.8 mil qualifying offer to Estrada.
The Nats are probably going to look at dealing Strasburg.
I agree that his arm is probably only good for another year or two.
Kind of sad to see such a hyped prospect flame out early.Comment

Re: 2015 MLB Hot Stove thread
If they don't give Estrada a qualifying offer, how much would he even sign for elsewhere? Probably a similar amount anyways, no point losing him for nothing, just to save 2-3M. If he doesn't take the offer, the Jays get compensation for him right?
If Price leaves, they need to go after a lefty starter in free agency big time, cause Price and Buehrle gone, there's no lefty in the rotation. Scott Kazmir being the main guy they should be going after if that's the case. Let everyone go after Price, and Jays go under the radar abit and get Kazmir(for around 12-14M seems like his price could be). And of course, fix up the bullpen big time.Comment

Re: 2015 MLB Hot Stove thread
And Price, Zimmerman, Greinke, etc. according to the media. And also I'm not too sure they get their ace through FA. I saw, within the last week, that Dombrowski has never signed a FA that has had qualifying offer given to him. The only player he has signed was Victor Martinez, which was a resigning. I found that odd.Comment

Re: 2015 MLB Hot Stove thread
In Cincy, Dusty wasn't leaving his pitchers out to dry as much. There was that Harang incident, but Dusty in Washington shouldn't automatically mean the end of Strasburg and Scherzer as we know them. If he can keep the team motivated and manage the egos, the Nats will be fine, no matter how old school he is. Ned Yost just won a world series, I don't see why Dusty cannot.Comment
