Well, I think it was a nice haul for the Braves lets not get carried away with the whole "#1 pick" thing. Last year wasn't the strongest of drafts.

Also DBacks are supposedly out on Leake according to Jerry Crasnick.

How about the fact that he is a top 10 OVERALL prospect?

Hearing that #Marlins had deal working with D-Backs: Jose Fernandez for Corbin, Swanson and 3 others -- until Zona landed Shelby Miller. Clark Spencer on Twitter.

Can't blame AZ for going after someone else. Depending on the 3 others.

I saw it, but I had to comment on it. An offer like that, if true, would had generated A LOT of chatter. I doubt there was anything to it.

Just getting caught up...I am having a hard time believing this Miller trade is real. Matrix - this is a steal if true. I love Shelby, but by the time this franchise is competing again he'll be a FA. We basically just turned Jason Heyward into 4 potentially legit players.

Eh, this is fairly short-sighted. This is how the Red Sox and Yankees ended up where they are, and the DBacks don't quite have the spending ability that those organizations do.

It may work in the short-term, but it's not great for long-term success.

I actually agree with Dave Cameron for once. This is the Erik Berdard trade.

He is a good prospect, I didn't dispute that, just that we aren't talking about Alex Rodriguez right here.

Has nothing to do with Shelby Miller and everything to do with "by the time this franchise is competing again" attitude.

You know what else does nothing for long-term success? Relying on 25 guys to pan out all at once and expecting a team that wouldn't even pay Andrelton Simmons 60 million over 5 years to do whatever it takes to actually keep the ones that do.

Miller is a No. 3 caliber pitcher. We got our future SS, starting OF and a pitcher with potential to be at least as good as Miller. I'll take it.

I might've traded Stroman for that haul, lol.

And I renew me call (Maaaaanfred!) for letting teams trade future draft picks. Take off the training wheels.

Very true, but you don't have to live in the extremes. There's more options than selling everything for the future, or selling the future for now.
