Well, I think it was a nice haul for the Braves lets not get carried away with the whole "#1 pick" thing. Last year wasn't the strongest of drafts.

Re: 2015 MLB Hot Stove thread
Hearing that #Marlins had deal working with D-Backs: Jose Fernandez for Corbin, Swanson and 3 others -- until Zona landed Shelby Miller. Clark Spencer on Twitter.
Can't blame AZ for going after someone else. Depending on the 3 others.Comment

Re: 2015 MLB Hot Stove thread
I saw it, but I had to comment on it. An offer like that, if true, would had generated A LOT of chatter. I doubt there was anything to it.
Most I can find is:
How exorbitant is the price on Jose Fernandez? Sources say the Marlins have asked the Dodgers for Julio Urias and Corey Seager.

Dodgers said no -- can't imagine Seager going anywhere for anyone -- but the sides have continued talking about plenty, including Fernandez.

Marlins asking for it and being rebuffed by the Dodgers.

Just getting caught up...I am having a hard time believing this Miller trade is real. Matrix - this is a steal if true. I love Shelby, but by the time this franchise is competing again he'll be a FA. We basically just turned Jason Heyward into 4 potentially legit players."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. It may work in the short-term, but it's not great for long-term success.Comment

You know what else does nothing for long-term success? Relying on 25 guys to pan out all at once and expecting a team that wouldn't even pay Andrelton Simmons 60 million over 5 years to do whatever it takes to actually keep the ones that do.Comment

Very true, but you don't have to live in the extremes. There's more options than selling everything for the future, or selling the future for now.Comment
