Phillies sign David Hernandez to a one year deal.

Astros are still trying to pry Ken Giles from the Phillies per Jon Heyman.

LOL. 'Cause batting average is why we want Zobrist. Nothing to do with OBP, or experience, or defensive expertise at several positions, or switch-hitting, or having decent pop for a guy who plays 2B, or consistent performance, or.......
You can LOL all you want but it was an overpay. Guy is going to be making $12 million dollars at 39 years old.

His defensive expertise? At what position? 2B? Starlin Castro was actually worth 27 runs more than Zobrist was when he played there in KC. Sure he can play numerous positions but what does that matter if he is playing them at a average to below average clip?

People bring up WAR, like his WAR hasn't declined every year since 2011.

So his experience is worth $56 million? Guy didn't have any experience winning anything until he was traded to a team that made the WS a year prior. You see experience, I see right place, right time. But we can agree to disagree. I hope he does well, but I have seen this movie before.

lol it was not an overpay. The 80 million bogus rumored would of been. The 4th year might not look pretty. This is a guy who has the 19th best wRC+ in the AL since 2011. It's not just versatility. His numbers last year don't look as good but after he came back from his Injury he looked like the same guy as we saw in the playoffs with KC.

even if you take account some decline he's still really good.

Except he has played in 37 playoff games the most any player on the Cubs has played. He made a WS in '08 when TB lost to Philly. He has been a part of 9 playoff series, which is 2nd behind Lester (11). So he has some experience with winning.

Astros willing to listen on numerous key players including George Springer (“open to moving … if the haul is big enough.”), Vincent Velasquez, and Lance McCullers and they more willing to deal the former (Velasquez). And the Cubs are among the clubs that have interest in Carlos Gomez, though Drellich says there’s a hesitancy to part with him.

Standard fielding metric. Combines range, runs saved, etc. Can find it on multiple statistic driven websites.

                        Total Fielding Runs above average.

I'd appreciate a link. None of the sites I've used have it. Thanks in advance.

It's the Total Zone stat on Baseball Reference.

                              Zobrist was -10 at 2B per 1,200 innings (http://www.baseball-reference.com/pl...obribe01.shtml), Castro was 17 at 2B per 1,200 innings (http://www.baseball-reference.com/pl...astrst01.shtml) in 2015.

Not projecting out, Zobrist was -2, Castro was 4.
