One is a 38 year old pitcher that they overpaid and was horrible. The other was 2nd in Cy Young voting, 32, coming off a year with an ERA less than 2. Also like I said the Stewart regime didn't really like Toussaint and didn't value him that highly.

Hoping the Angels get some offense before the meetings are done.

(should be ready by ST though).....and the Mets need SOME proven offense.
Neither of those two provide that.
The "kids" you're talking of were pretty much known to be dominant pitchers.
I don't think any team is sweating pitching to Flores or Herrera.

But like I said earlier in the thread....I bet the Mets go as is until the trade deadline.

Hopefully the Dodgers make a few moves soon. We need more than Iwakuma. I'm all for Jose Fernandez, but not at the price Miami wants (unless we sign Jason Heyward then they can have Pederson or Puig). I'd take Mike Leake at this point.

I'm surprised Yasiel hasn't been dealt yet.

The Braves were in the middle of the extremes heading into the offseason. It looked like they were planning to compete in 2017. It looks like they pretty much decided to go into a full rebuild rather than a 2/3 year retool. They added Markakis and Olivera, but then traded away Simmonds, Miller (big win for the Braves BTW if the guys pan out), ect. I'm just not seeing how this team will be ready for their target of 2017 anymore.

David Hernandez is close to signing a deal. Looks like it might be with the Phillies.

Thanks for the answer. At least I can sleep well knowing my "Carter is a bit underrated to those crazy SABR people" notion isn't so far fetched.

White Sox and A's in serious discussions about Brett Lawrie.

If he plays his cards right, he could find near $300 million as well. His youth and his WAR are his top selling points, obviously. I really wish the Giants would snag him, but that's just not going to happen. Returning to the Braves would be great too.

Heyward will go to a team that actually does stuff to win. Which means the Giants aren't out of it and the Braves are.
