Make your joke if it makes you feel superior. You made a ridiculously hyperbolic comment after casting yourself as a "fan". It made you look as though you had no knowledge of the rest of the Cubs bullpen pieces.


And that Montgomery trade is looking ****ty so far.

I'm a.) hoping it's not Perdomo, not cause he's especially good but that'd be too much imo and b.) that assuming that we're not paying much of his contract.

3+ WAR in his last 600 PA and I strongly feel we won't be paying his salary (because, well, we we can't, lol). So I like this.

I don't think it will be Pentecost or Perdomo...

My prediction is Ryan Borucki who's a decent spect. Not that anyone cares about Blue Jays Class A prospects, lol.

Wasn't expecting anything big to be moved. Jays need to move a pitcher to make room for Upton (more than likely).

One of those awkward moments. Upton literally just has to walk over to the opposing clubhouse. Turn left instead of right when entering the building.

Guess he's making his debut vs his former team. Bautista possibly moved to DH now?

Nice improvement on the lineup though. Order is now

1-6 in that lineup all with 20HR potential. Now let's hope they can fix the bullpen.

Oh wow. Wasn't expecting Hansel. He's got a great arm. Obviously not a top spect but for Upton + salary, that kind of lottery ticket is a great get. Good luck to him with you guys.

The issue is were paying the majority (2/3rds) of his salary still... Which I was hoping for a bit better return since that is the case. If it was a salary dump then sure.

Yeah, if i'm a Padres fan knowing that you're still paying a big chunk of Upton's salary i'd have expected a bit more.

As i've said here and elsewhere this is an acquisition moreso for next year than anything else. Good move by the Jays to minimize the value sent in return.

You're trying to make an argument after making a ridiculous point. It's obvious that Chapman may throw more in the playoffs, but to say he has to throw every game and get 6 and 9 out saves is just dumb and erroneous. There's no reason for me to argue your revised point because I don't disagree with it. It's done at this point. My comment has nothing to do with "Cubs fans feeling pressure" and everything to do with calling a person out for a ridiculous comment, which I do fairly frequently.

Lol, I seriously never realized Melvin Upton is BJ Upton!

I know he's not the same guy as he was with Rays, but getting back in the AL East, specifically Toronto, we really could see him putting up his 2012 like numbers.

One way to look at it; it wasn't long ago the Melvin was one of the worst players in the Majors, so getting anything decent for him is a positive.

Jays only on book for 5M of his remaining salary. Huge steal!

Really wonder what Os offer was. Jays get 20HR,20SB potential guy who they pay just 5M for an A ball prospect. How much worse of an offer could O's have made? They wanted Padres to pay all of his remaining salary or something?

It was Ubaldo + two specs for Upton, but with no extra money being exchanged. It was too much for the O's to have on payroll for next season I believe.

The amount that Padres took back on deal, the Jimenez one sounds so much better. Salary wise it's similar(Jimenez 13m next year vs Padres retaining 11m on Upton next year in Jays deal) and 2 prospects. Only 2M more you retain,but get extra prospect and a starting pitcher. I would've taken that over Jays one.
