Because it invalidates the accompishments of players we root for. As a Red Sox fan, if I found out David Ortiz was taking steroids during this postseason when he had all those clutch hits, it would ruin the whole thing for me because I consider it cheating.

It doesn't invalidate anything. if someone is the biggest person in the world, it doesn't mean that they can swing a bat. They might be able to hit it harder but it doesn't change that much, especially when he was already big before 2003. He's already proven that he can hit home runs so I don't see how it invalidates anything and why people care so much.

Obviously he felt that whatever risk was enough for whatever he was using them for. I don't know why he was using them but you can't honestly say that steroids automatically make you a great hitter.

Exactly. Steroids and HGH are performance enhancing drugs. The players who take them do so to gain an advantage over their opponents. In this case, an unfair advantage because they're pushing their body's strength past its natural limits. Its impossible to determine how he would perform with steroids and how he would perform without them but they're not taking them for fun.
