Just saw that...pretty shocking. Cardinals as an organization seem to be coming undone.

Like I said in the other thread, we missed the playoffs in 2016 and the front office lost their damn mind and tried to buy their way back into the playoffs.

Again, I don't agree with it, but somebody had to be the fall guy given where we are as an organization.

Villanueva looks like a DH playing 3B out there for San Diego. His season metrics aren't bad, but he's looked terrible against the Cubs while mishandling almost every chance he's had.

Pirates doing just enough before the break that they won't make any needed moves. Also worried about Cervelli, he went back on the DL with concusion symptoms a day after coming back.

Interesting contrast with Stanton this season:

                        Home: .225/.297/.445, 11 HR, 27 RBI in 195 PA's

                        Away: .320/.387/.582, 12 HR, 28 RBI in 217 PA's

Counting numbers are about the same, but about a 100 point difference in each of his triple slash line

Judges are the complete opposite. Both have major home/road splits.

                          Home .355/ .478/ 17 hr/ 1.213 ops
                          Road .204/.310/ 8 hr/ .685 ops

Judge is mashing at home and struggled on the road. His day and night splits are odd too. Kind of unexplainable.

Doesn't make any sense though. Judge Homerun distance average is "397" this year. That's clearing just about any RF or LF fence that I can think of. He doesn't hit many cheapies.

I'm not sure how Yankee stadium inflates his stats that much. Sure he goes oppo sometimes. But this is once case where the stats don't make sense. Maybe he just feels comfortable at home.

I've noticed that his BABIP at home has been insane during his career. This makes me think that teams play him a certain way at home (shift, expect him to go opposite field, etc) and they haven't adjusted to what he actually does. His BABIP at home is over .400 for his career, IIRC.

It's very interesting. And then you look at Stantons and he's much better at home. It literally makes no sense.

You may be on to something. But still doesn't explain that dramatic of a change. Especially with how many games I've watched of Judge in his career. His exit velocity in general is insane. He will use all fields. But he usually crushes the ball and leaves with a no doubter.
