Bauer headed to the Bay...stars, the Yokohama DeNA BayStars.

I figured no MLB team would go after him. The bad PR wouldn't be worth it, especially when he hasn't pitched in 2 years and is now 32.

32 is still a good age for a pitcher. I'm thinking he is there to show he still has it, once he does that then it is a matter of a team having an injury and being desperate enough.

Interesting comments from the Reds GM.

Saying Votto will retire a Red unless they're out of the playoffs by the deadline, in which case the Jays will be the team they look at for a deal (I'd imagine the only team he'd want to waive his NTC for).

I could see it being Votto + cash to the Jays and the Jays just use the cash to buy him out at the end of the season (he has a 20M option with a 7m buyout) and he just signs back with the Reds.

Or Votto for a PTBNL, and that players name is Joey Votto. That actually could work too. He literally just joins the Jays for the playoff run and knows internally that he can return/retire with the Reds.

Never realized Dodgers still have Andrew Toles signed to a deal so he can keep his health insurance.

He's out of baseball and dealing with various mental health illnesses, but Dodgers have him under contract (for $0) so he still qualifies for their health insurance.

Good gesture trying to help him out.

He wasn't around for long, but had the Dodgers won the 2016 NLCS, he's one of the leading guys to win NLCS MVP

Bumgarner DFA’d by Arizona. Strange career the way he fell off a cliff as soon as he turned 30

So the Pirates are spending money, locking up Reynolds for 8 years/$103M. That plus having the best record in the NL…is this bizarro world?

The team this year reminds me of the winning teams in 2013-2015. So many young players looking good. So many guys are hitting. Starters are going 6+, giving up 1 or 2 runs. Bullpen looks solid. Everything is working here.

The holdout was over that deal? Seems like Pirates got him for a steal.

That deal to me says two things

                          1) The front office wanted to hold back some money in an effort to be able to take on pieces later in the year and/or add pieces in the offseason

                          2) Reynolds didn’t want to leave. I don’t think anyone would believe that he wouldn’t have gotten more money on the open market and likely from a team viewed more strongly as a playoff/world series contender

Bucs traded catcher Tyler Heineman to the Jays for INF Vinny Capra.

Both guys look like AAAA type players. Doesn't seem too impactful for either team.
