He could definitely wind up a Ricky Romero which is crazy to say for a 25 year old SP who just finished top 3 in Cy Young voting.

Jays fans hoping its more like Roy Halladay. Came in and dominated right away, then out of nowhere had one of the worst seasons by a Jays pitcher ever (even to this day!) He was sent all the way down to A ball at one point, refound his game and never looked back.

In the strangest turn of events, Jays DFA Anthony Bass.

        So the timeline...

Bass goes off about that popcorn mess controversy on the plane

Bass posts his support for "causes he believes in" and gets ripped by many

He then holds a media conference, doesn't answer any questions, and speaks for 20 seconds (basically saying "people close to me were impacted by my comments too")

Jays almost defend his "apology" saying he's learning from his mistakes

Jays announce he's throwing out the first pitch to kick off pride weekend

Jays then DFA him less than 24 hours after giving a media conference saying he's learning from his mistakes.

This all just makes me laugh. Dude seems like he had zero regrets for what he said, or his actions prior on the plane.

          Later, gator.

The whole thing was so fake too which made it worse.

Management was defending his "apology" that everyone knew wasn't sincere by saying themselves that it was sincere. All just to get rid of him before "day 1 of his public redemption tour".

And like you said, he wasn't sorry for anything. It was basically like "I don't regret having those feelings, I regret making those feelings public", which while he has a right to believe what he wants, once you make feelings like that public, you put yourself in a lose lose situation.

              Exactly.

Blue Jay's were fake about it, Bass was fake about it, and it's still a lose-lose for everyone.

Will someone want to pick up a potential headache? Blue Jay's will get a little bit of stuff thrown their way by fans.

              Just messy.

Before he came out with his apology to the media, he said "Let's make this quick."

That's probably not the most sincere way to start your apology.

Apparently when Atkins spoke yesterday about Bass being "enlightened" and opening his mind to other points of view, nobody told Bass that.

I feel Chicago will secretly trade Stroman soon. Wouldn't be surprise if Texas comes out with the winning bid.

A bit off topic, but Joe Girardi has been offered the head coach position at Central Florida University.

He just shows up one day in a non Cubs game and just starts pitching.

How do you keep it secret? By not announcing he's on the market. Last year when Hader was traded to SD from Milwaukee, who even knew Hader was even available?

Reading a lot of talk about Mets trading Verlander/Scherzer at the deadline. No way anyone takes on those contracts…

One of the Mets beat reporters said there is thought that maybe Scherzer would waive his no trade clause to go to a contender and the NY media ran with it. I’m sure they’d have no problem paying the entire contract if they got something decent in return
