Yeah, I think it is the second game of the series.

And I had forgotten about DiNardo...but isn't he our only lefty reliever? Although, I like the combo of Timlin-Foulke-Paps....with Seanz thrown in there, and hopefully our starting staff can keep going 6 or 7 innings a start, it'd certainly be different from last season.

On Cold Pizza, a baseball analyst said that the Sox would probably go with Stern Vs righties and Pena Vs lefties.

Yah, but Riske and Foulke both have decent splits against lefties. Frankly the LOOGY and ROOGY combinations we had last year was just painful to watch. I'd much rather have guys who can get everybody out.

I wouldn't count on Riske being able to get anyone out. He'll probably be DFA'd before the end of the year.

Why? He's had pretty consistent numbers over the last 3 years. Obviously not in high pressure situations, but over the last 3 years lefties are batting .195 against him.

It doesn't sound that serious. I'm guessing 2-4 weeks before he's back in the lineup every day. This sucks, but we could do worse than Adam Stern as a backup, especially after seeing him play in the WBC and on Sunday.

Red Sox medical director Dr. Thomas Gill this afternoon issued the following statement regarding the condition of outfielder Coco Crisp:

“Coco has a non-displaced fracture at the base of his left index finger. He will be placed in a splint for 10 days and reevaluated at that time. Once sufficient healing has occurred, Coco can begin batting and return to baseball activities. No surgery is indicated at this time.”

Crisp injured the finger during the top of the third inning Saturday at Baltimore while attempting to steal third base. He is batting .333 [8-for-24] with a double, triple and six runs scored in five games this season.
The Red Sox gave no indication as to how long Crisp would be out.

Out for 10 days at least...is what everyone is reporting...we'll see if they decide to DL him to bring up Mohr or just stick it out and see how he feels.

Well he's in a splint for 10 days, so I think you have to DL him unless you want to play a man short for awhile. I'm guessing a trip to the DL and he'll be back by May 1.

Yeah...you think they call up Mohr, or an infielder?

Press Conference is on WEEI now.

Ortiz is signed through 2010 with a club option for 2011.

I'd say Willie Harris since he can play both. I'm also not sure what Mohr's status is. Did he have to accept the assignment to the minors? IE would we risk losing him if we called him up and tried to send him down again?

I love Crisp and I hate to see the Sox lose him for any period of time, but I'm a little excited for Adam Stern. We never got to see what he had last year so now he'll get his chance. For a period of 10-15 days, I think they'll be fine with him and Pena offensively. Pena in center scares me a bit, though. Perhaps against lefties, maybe they'll consider playing Ortiz at first and DHing Ramirez with Pena, Stern, and Nixon left to right in the outfield. I'd hate to lose range in center, though Nixon has looked good so far out there in right so it may not be as big a factor as I think it is.

And finally this front office locks someone up long-term before the end of their contract. Great signing to keep Ortiz in Boston for basically the duration of his best playing days.

Ortiz in a Boston uniform til 2010-11= The AL East trembling in fear!

Oh and I have a question, why does opening day in Boston start at 2 PM? Is there some story behind that or just tradition?
