Re: Boston Red Sox - 2006

A crummy job by Francona managing the bullpen today..

Tavarez did a good job getting 3 outs in the 6th inning, but Francona left him in to start the bottom of the 7th and face Miguel Cabrera. By this point in the season, we all know that Tavarez has poor numbers in his 2nd inning of work. I do not understand leaving him in to face the Marlins best hitter when:

    a) Delcarmen is sitting in the bullpen
    b) Timlin is sitting in the bullpen
    c) Lopez is sitting in the bullpen to face whatever lefties are due up.

I didn't like this move as soon as I saw him in to start the inning, and to be honest, the home run by Cabrera was merely a formality at that point.

Yes, Tavarez has sucked horribly in 2006, but it is Francona's job to put these pitchers in a position to succeed. If he can only go for 1 inning with success, then so be it. I have hated Tavarez all season long, but today he did his job and only failed when Francona asked him for too much.

Yea today I actually felt bad for Tavarez. Francona just waits till he does something bad then pulls him all the time. If it wasn't for our offense I think Francona would be criticized more then he is.

Tonight Johnson goes against Corcoran and hopefully he can stop are mini losing streak and we can come back and tie the series tommorow night and get out of Tampa. It seems like every year we have atleast one team either Baltimore or Tampa Bay that gives us trouble every once and awhile.

I'd pay good money to never see Jason Johnson in a Red Sox uniform again. They could run a ******** quadriplegic orangutan to the mound every 5th day and he would be a significant improvement.

          Johnson's got N-O-T-H-I-N-G.

Hahah yeah I just saw that on the play of the game. I wasn't even watching when it happened. Unreal. How can you pitch from the stretch with Crawford at any base? What a clown. Get this guy out of town, pleeeease.

Offense has been horrible last 3 games as well. If they play anything like this vs. the White Sox, they are going to get annihilated. I could see approximately 20 home runs hit by CWS in that series!!

What if all Red Sox fans chipped in like $5 to get a decent pitcher?? Do you guys think we could get a decent pitcher and a plane ticket for Johnson? Hopefully Wake can prevent the sweep by the D-Rays tommorow because todays outing by Johnson was embarrassing.

WEEI has Hawk Harrelson on right now. This guy is the biggest homer announcer I've ever heard.

All I know is this weekend is HUGE for us.

If we can win this series somehow, it'd be a huge momentum builder, hopefully, going into the Break.

This is priceless. The guys interviewing him havn't even said anything, but you hear them snicker every once in awhile.

Tonight is going to be the real test for Lester and hopefully he's on his game tonight. I don't think he'll be able to get out of any jams tonight if he loads the bases. But if he brings his A game I would look for him to surprise some people in Chicago.

And hopefully our offense can capitalize off of some of their momentum that they had last night and bring it in to this series. We have a couple of guys batting over .350 against Buehrle in Ortiz, Crisp, Varitek, Ramirez, and Youk is 1 for 1. So things look pretty good for our offense tonight especially since Buehrle is coming off a bad outing last time vs the Cubs.
