Wow, the Padres must be the coldest team in the league now. Andruw Jones has just been teeing off of Chris Young and on a side note I've noticed more home runs are being hit in Petco. No surprise it's the visiting hitting them.

It's been a while since someone posted here, but the Padres are again wearing their Camoflauge jerseys.Comment

You know. Looking at our third base situation I think that trade rumor of the Padres sending 3B Sean Burroughs, C Humberto Quintero, and P Tim Stauffer/P Justin Germano to the Royals for CF Carlos Beltran and 3B Joe Randa and drafting Stephen Drew that same season and groom him as a thirdbasemen sounds pretty good right now. I hate hindsight.Comment

Rumor has it that Jake Peavy is being pushed back for the series against the Bucs. Is this true? If so, thanks!
Is Burroughs really still your starting 3B?“In my lifetime, we've gone from Eisenhower to George W. Bush. We've gone from John F. Kennedy to Al Gore. If this is evolution, I believe that in twelve years, we'll be voting for plants.” - Lewis BlackComment

No, it's Castilla.
They're skipping over Peavy because of a minor injury. It's not like it matters, the rest of the rotation has been up there with him.
Update:
Right now our thirdbase situation is a platoon. Back before the 2004 season started I really thought Burroughs was going to improve after he showed promise of hitting for power in 2003. He was doing alright the first half of 2004 and I was against that trade as we'd have to plug in a thirdbaseman until Drew was ready.
Little did I know two years later they'd be in that very situation... with their best third base prospect in single-A.Last edited by BatsareBugs; 06-02-2006, 05:39 PM.Comment

Padres fans you have a guy on his way up I have seen him play quite a bit for your AA team the mobile baybears, Kenard Jones just got called up to AAA and I think him and pitcher ceasar carrilo will be with the big league team by years end“Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.”

Cesar Carrillo won't be out for too long. I think if he does pitch well in AAA he'll be on the roster as early as August.Comment

So far so good with the Texas trade. The only weak guy from the trade is Terrmel Sledge, who has been struggling a bit in the minors while sharing outfield duties with Jon Knott and Jack Cust. Adrian Gonzalez is racking up the hits now and Chris Young has been pitching very well this season.
Now it's off to Milwaukee.Comment

Re: Official San Diego Padres Thread - 2006
I am really getting tired when Padres fans gloat over something (i.e. having the pitchers pitchin very well) only for it to explode in their face the day they announce it (I remember our good buddy MSUSpartanPride mentioned that in 2003 and the very same thing happened).
It just ticks me off.Comment

Alliball, I know you rumage around the other forums too since you were so inclined to call me out when I jumped all over the Padres for not hitting at home at the start of 2005.
In any case, I decided to browse around the ESPN forums yesterday and that is just what I saw.Comment

Strange game baseball is. The Pirates rolled over the Brewers last week, then the Padres pretty much bashed their way through PNC, and now the Brewers are hot.
What was up with Jake today? Actually, what the hell is with him this season? He's terrible.Comment
