I still am worried about this offense struggling at home. I used to call Nady the Jekyll/Hyde of baseball, but I think the Padres themselves own that name. They look like a different team on the road.
I still think Towers and Bochy's tenures are long overdue for this team and that Magadan needs to go... but why ruin the mood when they're having their rare winning streaks?
Even if they go 22-6 in May again... they still have to play good the next four months instead of floundering like they did last year then I'll think they'll have a chance to win a gamd in the first round.Comment

I believe the Padres found a diamon in the rough with Bowen. The DuCross Brothers: Sports Internet Talk Show

Re: Official San Diego Padres Thread - 2006
Had a good time last night. Spent the 4th throgh the 10th inning on the balconony on the Western Metal Supply Building. Great spot to watch a game imo.
The PCL uniforms looked GREAT. That's a jersey I would actually buy. Peavy's old school windup on the first pitch was awesome. That kid just gets it. Despite not really having it, he held the Cubs in check. A gazillion Cub fans were there last night, as usual. Khalil is striking out looking way too often these last couple of weeks, and does it scare anyone else that not only can Piazza not throw anyone out, but he can't even get the ball to second without bouncing it.
Anyway fun game last night. Still not a big fan of Petco, either the park, nor getting in and out of there on gamedays.Comment

I don't know which was worse, watching Piazza trying to throw to second or watching Jaque Jones trying to throw home. The last time a saw a guy throw a two hopper to the cut-off man I was playing in little league.Comment

I really like how Peavy pays homage to old-time pitchers with the throwback windup. He did that last year when he pitched in a game with the throwback PCL jerseys.
As for Piazza, I really don't mind if he doesn't start half of the remaining games at catcher with Bowen and Bard... although those two IMO are true starting catchers. I want to see the latter two play more.
Lastly, I dislike Petco Park's design... I don't know, it just doesn't appeal to me.Comment

Tomorrow should be a good matchup, the new-old Greg Maddux vs. Chris Young.
It's a little weird to see a four game series going from Friday to Monday... I can't remember when the last the Padres had one of these.Comment
