Re: 2008 Cincinnati Reds
You know the more I think about it the more sense it makes.
Did we really need two LH 1B? Atleast Corey can pinch run and come in to play defense for Dunn or Griffey last in games.
By the way Jay Bruce is batting 2nd and playing CF tonight!ND Season Ticket Holder since '72.Comment

Re: 2008 Cincinnati Reds
It was the right move but I hate letting a guy like Hatteberg go. There are a players on the Reds that I wish had the same professional approach that Hattie played with. The guy is a great hitter and he gets on base, which isn't what Dusty likes from what he's said in the past. I hope someone else picks him up. He deserves it.MLB: Cincinnati Reds
NFL: Cincinnati Bengals
NCAA Hoops: Xavier Musketeers
NCAA Football: Miami Hurricanes
NHL: Calgary Flames

3-3, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 runs, 2 BB, even a stolen base. Five at-bats, five times reached base.
This kid is for real.Comment

Re: 2008 Cincinnati Reds
Well that's a great way to start off your career. Hopefully Bruce can continue this hitting. It's good to get your first's out of the way and Bruce did a good job of being successful in his first's too.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills

Re: 2008 Cincinnati Reds
I got to watch the game on FSN in Asheville and boy am I impressed. I think one of the most impressive things about Bruce's game last night was the way he took 4 straight balls in his first at bat. That takes a lot for a young kid in his first major league at bat to be able to NOT swing at close pitches.
Let's hope this has an overall positive effect for the Reds as a whole and they start playing like they are capable.#WeAreUKComment

Re: 2008 Cincinnati Reds
I went to the game last night and it was really fun to watch this kid play.
He looks like he really loves to play the game, he had a smile on the whole game.
By the way Adam Dunn is quitetly having a really good year! I really dont understand why some people want to let him go after this year, I also love how he has taken Bruce under his wing. The HR Dunn hit last night was a BOMB! He is on pace for over 40 HRS and 100 RBI's. He is also hitting HR's at big times this year, alot of people have complained in the past that he only hit meeningless HR's.ND Season Ticket Holder since '72.Comment

Re: 2008 Cincinnati Reds
I agree about Dunn although I do sometimes go back and forth. But I have been a long time Dunn supporter and feel like he is really fine tuning his approach by not striking out as much and hitting better in key situations. His poor, poor start this year didn't help anything but he has been hot as of late.I went to the game last night and it was really fun to watch this kid play.

I don't know if I will ever get over trading Hamilton. Don't get me wrong, I would still want Volquez, but I would have rather them trade Dunn AND Griffey for Volquez instead of Hamilton. But that is just my own hang up. Also not a knock on Dunn, just that I believe if I had to choose between Hamilton and Dunn, I would choose Hamilton (even before the season I would have said that so it has nothing to do with what Hamilton is doing now).
As for Bruce, I have a feeling he is going to be my favorite player for the next 10+ years.#WeAreUKComment

Re: 2008 Cincinnati Reds
I agree, I think the thing I was most impressed with was that he walked twice but didn't strike out once. If you look at his AAA numbers, he's been striking out a lot so if he can cut down on that then we'll have something great on our hands.I got to watch the game on FSN in Asheville and boy am I impressed. Re: 2008 Cincinnati Reds
One of the local sports talk host here in Cincy had an exec from the Rangers on a while back and he said the Rangers had no interest in trading Volquez for Dunn or Griffey, they wanted Hamilton or nothing. The execs exact words where why would we want Dunn and pay him 12 miillion a year when we could get Hamilton who is better and pay him $400,000?I agree about Dunn although I do sometimes go back and forth. I would rather have Hamilton also but we where not going to get one of the best young pitchers in the game for Dunn, you have to give something to get something and that is what we did.
And I will get over trading Hamilton as soon as he gets hurnt later in the year, and you know he will.
BY THE WAY PATTERSON IS GONE! sent to AAA.

so I take it that Hairston is now our everyday leadoff hitter. A career .255 hitter with a career OBP of .325? Sweet.Lux y VeritasComment

Re: 2008 Cincinnati Reds
Yeah I guess so, except when Freel plays then he will lead off.
Freel should get plenty of playing time, spelling Dunn, Griff, Bruce and playing for Edwin at 3rd since he sucks again!! lolND Season Ticket Holder since '72.Comment
