I"m not watching the game but man....5-0 last I checked. Me thinks Gibby is going to be the next manager fired even if he doesn't really deserve to be let go.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Your 2008 Toronto Blue Jays!
Man, 7-0 and every single run was put up by the home run. Strange, because McGowan was the 4th best pitcher in the AL at not allowing HRs prior to tonight. The offense yet again jsut couldn't get anything going, the best chance we had was when McGowan came up with 2 out and 2 on. I hope today was a wake-up call to JP about how station-to-station is all well and good but a few well-timed homers can really give your team a boost.
Oh well, tomorrow should be some kind of pitchers duel with Marcum and Sheets going at it.Comment

Re: Your 2008 Toronto Blue Jays!
A couple things before this game starts today:
1. Did anyone listen to Wednesdays with JP last night? The guy sounded pretty dejected as he should be since this team is his creation and it's going down the crapper. I do have to wonder what it is about Adam Dunn that the Jays don't like? JP basically bashed a fan for asking if JP would have interest in Dunn.
2. If Dave Bush beats the Jays today then i'm sorry, something's terribly wrong with this team.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Your 2008 Toronto Blue Jays!
Well because 1) I am an eternal optimist and 2) I have nothing better to do, here is my roadmap for getting back into this thing. I am counting today as a loss already because Burnett is pitching like garbage and I don't trust our offense to even score 3.
After today (counting it as a loss) we would be 4 games below .500. I say we need to take the series against the Pirates, this would put us 3 games below. We then must go 5-1 on our following homestand, this would make them 1 game over. Following that is a West Coast road trip in which they must go 3-3 to remain 1 game over. We then have a 6 game in-division homestand against BAL and NYY; on this stand we must go at an absolute worst 4-2 to be 3 games over .500 at the break. At that point we would probably only be 3-5 games out of the wildcard with a series against TB right after the break. Winning that series would get you within legit striking distance with 2.5 months left.
Now, for this to happen the offense needs to get their heads out of their butts and play like we did in May (which at this point is probably unlikely), but IF it happens and we make a run as I laid out, we could be seriously back in this thing. Combine that with a deadline tweak or two and the season would be far from over.
As I typed this we went from losing 3-0 to losing 6-0, so today is really a right off...Comment

Re: Your 2008 Toronto Blue Jays!
The ball got stuck under the fence and Rios called for a ground-rule double. The ump made no signal until Fielder was around 3rd and by that time he couldn't get the ball into the fielders in time.
And SPTO, didn't I say I was pretty sure there was no way it would happen.Comment

Changes would have to be made after that. No matter how small, I would think something would have to be done.Comment

Re: Your 2008 Toronto Blue Jays!
I'm so disappointed with the Jays and if they lose, as it looks like they will, they really need to do something...the offense is just killing this club and the pitching, while solid, is starting to get shelled.
I think Burnett needs to go. I was one of the guys that liked that signing initially and thought AJ would light it up in Toronto, but he never did. You should expect more out of your #2 starter than what Burnett has done so far. He will opt out for sure so JP should get rid of him and get something in returnComment

Re: Your 2008 Toronto Blue Jays!
Well at least we managed to get something, but I still have to believe something big will happen by the end of the weekend if we don't sweep the Pirates (like that will happen).
EDIT: How come Overbay can't get a hit when it actually matters, but can crush the ball when the game is out of reach?! If Overbay had picked even one clutch hit a week over the month we would have won a few more games.Last edited by sabresfan; 06-19-2008, 03:29 PM.Comment

At least the Jays aren't going down quietly.
EDIT: Well if that isn't the definition of "too little too late" I don't know what is.Last edited by SPTO; 06-19-2008, 03:49 PM.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club
