Re: The Official San Diego Padres Thread
Whatever, since he's only a second year player, everything works in your favor since he only had 50 extra base hits last season, something Burroughs never accomplished, 18 home runs, something Brian Giles would only reach if he was playing for an NL Central team, and rebounding from .108 start through May 9 to finish the year at .275. I mean, those aren't David Wright numbers, but collectively so far he's accomplished more than Slappy Burroughs. Is it wrong to root for Kevin Kouzmanoff? I don't see anyone getting all giddy like he's the best. I mean, he's hanging around the majors while Josh Barfield has suddenly took a decline for the worst. That's all TheTruth stated since a ton of people were getting all riled up over trading Barfield away.Last edited by BatsareBugs; 04-16-2008, 08:19 PM.Comment

Maybe in May, but this is the middle of April, only 14 games have been played.

I hope Kouz does well, but damn, before we start saying he's playing great or is great, lets wait till he actually does something.
This team is an 77-82 win team at best. For Sandy Alderson, Kevin Towers and John Moores that's good enough apparently. No desire to put together a championship team.
Mediocrity, it's what the Padres strive for.Comment

Read truth's post again. But he does nothing but overrate the home teams.

Anyways, I think a lot of people would agree on that with Kouz. I'm just hoping for the whole season he breaks 25 home runs and justifies the "hitter" reputation he had in the minors.
BTW on a gameday-related note, welcome back to reality Germano.Comment

Kooz has started off good, where is barfield? what has he done since being traded that is all. I don't get it why if I say something I get jumped over. Who cares??? everyone has an opinion. Are the padres my favorite team heck no. Do I really care if they win not a chance because they are not my favorite team. Am I happy when they win of course because I am a baseball fan that lives in San Diego. Is there a problem with that?
Of course that padres strive for mediocrity why should they put out a good team that can compete for championships when there are very little die hard home team fans in the San Diego Area?? SD is the worst place to be a sports fan.
Oh yeah its only 2 weeks into the season, nothing counts yet until they get to the mid season. Then the season starts to matter. ITS WEEK TWO!
Also how do I overrate the home teams BK please educate me because thats not my intent. Its just a message boardLast edited by TheTruth916; 04-16-2008, 10:56 PM.The DuCross Brothers: Sports Internet Talk Show

Glendon Rusch needs to be given his walking papers ASAP. Has he even pitched a complete inning without giving up a run?Comment

Please Padres get rid of Edmonds or move him to LF try that. The DuCross Brothers: Sports Internet Talk Show

There simply is no better pitcher in the MLB than Jake Peavy.Comment

Re: The Official San Diego Padres Thread
Here's the problem, they simply don't have anyone better to play CF. Only Kevin Towers could have a team that plays in a stadium with the most ground to cover in CF, and not only, not have a suitable prospect in the minors to give a shot, but simply fail to sign a serviceable CF via FA.Comment

Re: The Official San Diego Padres Thread
Through 8 innings 4 baserunners total, none since the second inning.
Worst offense ever. Nice to see another brilliant Peavy start go to waste.Comment

Stupid Padres, me complaining about you guys hitting too many singles doesn't mean stop hitting. God, you all are making Juan Pierre look like an all-star.Comment

Right now, LF and CF = 3B for us before last season. It's too bad the Padres would rather have arbitration eligibility be more of a priority than fielding their best team. Hairston's best suited as a fifth outfielder, Huber was a waste of a trade, and Headley should do no worse than Hairston.Comment

Re: The Official San Diego Padres Thread
That's the thing, we've got too many potential corner outfielders in the farm system. Will Venable projects to be a COF instead of CF if he continues to progress. Our best viable CF prospect is Cedric Hunter, and he's only in Lake Elsinore.

It's time to bring Headley up and stick him in LF, and see if he can help start up this offense. Because this is pathetic.
Tonight through 11 1/3 innings they have 4 hits, all singles. And one of those hits was from Peavy. What a joke.Last edited by bkrich83; 04-18-2008, 12:22 AM.Comment

Re: The Official San Diego Padres Thread
That's the the frustrating part. The Padres front office has no desire whatsoever to field a championship team. As long as people keep coming to that Monstrosity known as Petco Park, they don't care.Comment

Re: The Official San Diego Padres Thread
Have to ask...I lived in SD up til 2001 and went to plenty of games at the Murph. Do you guys not like Petco? The Murph was a monstrosity, I'd have thought Petco would be a great place for a ballgame. Sure, it's nowhere near as easy to get to and parking must be $$$$ (unless the trolley runs there) but it's gotta be better than that concrete monster in mission valley.Steam: BahnzoComment
