Re: 2010 Cincinnati Reds
Soooo, are we all believers yet? First place in the NL Central, early August. Even if we slip, we'd be in the thick of the NL Wild Card race as well, though I think ATL/PHI wins that. Which brings up a theoretical dilemna for me; I'm in the thick of Phillies territory, and I don't want to think of the **** I'll be receiving if the Reds make the playoffs and draw the Phillies. It could be very great, or very horrible.
Side note: On the way to vacation about a month ago, had a layover in Cincinnati. Got myself a nice Cincinnati Reds T-Shirt, has a picture of Great American BallPark. I'll be wearing that proudly these next two months. It was great to finally have a tie to Cincinnati, considering there was no rhyme or reason as to why I picked them as my favorite team in the early 2000's. That, my Reds cap, a Reds knitted hat, and a slightly torn (damn dog!) Ken Griffey Jr. BP jersey comprise my Cincy gear. My next target is a Joey Votto jersey...Last edited by slickdtc; 08-07-2010, 07:39 AM.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers

Re: 2010 Cincinnati Reds
From what I read, Uncle Walt's reasoning was, due to days off, he was going to get skipped in the rotation. They sent him down to get a start and then they'll bring him back in 10 days.
By the way, I think Mike Leake is tired. Either that or the NL just figured out how to hit him. Was disappointed when I got out of class and turned on 700 for the ride home. 7-0 at that point. Freakin' Skip Schumaker hit a grand slam? Wasn't Leake's night. Oh well. Still one game up and a Cueto-Garcia match on Tuesday.Last edited by SlimKibbles; 08-09-2010, 10:07 PM.MLB: Cincinnati Reds

Re: 2010 Cincinnati Reds
Yeah, definitely wasn't Leake's night. I've been watching every game for the past month, since I've been off work, he's slowly getting tired I believe. Still think he's a stud of a pitcher.
This series is huge... definitely would like to take the next 2, and I think it's possible. We NEED these games. If we can take the next 2, and we have the "more games played/less games left" on our side, I think we make it. Still need to put together a solid run for confidence sake.Twitter - WTF_OS

Re: 2010 Cincinnati Reds
Agree with everything you said, WTF. and I think we have a legitimate chance these next 2 games. Cueto has been superb this year (quietly making a case for Cy Young consideration), and Arroyo is putting together his 2nd straight borderline great season.
Jaime Garcia (last time I saw him) was showing the same signs of fatigue that Leake has been showing lately. Actually, over his last 7 starts his ERA is way up from his season ERA. (4.29 to be exact).
and Wainwright has been a completely different pitcher on the road this year. He's 5-6 with a 3.00 ERA on the road, so if the hitters can get to him early, and Arroyo can continue to pitch the way he did in Atlanta and Chicago, we could pull that one out.
It would be great to be up 3 games after this series.

Re: 2010 Cincinnati Reds
They have two off days the next week so they dont need Wood for almost two weeks. I expect Homer to be back up soon and take Leake's spot.
I really expect them to bounce back tonight and beat Garcia and then probably lose to Wainright on Wednesday afternoon. I will be in my works box for Wednesdays game. Someone mentioned a page back that Wainright really struggles on the road with a 3.00 ERA, yeah that is really struggling!! lol
I told you guys months ago this team was different this year!! (pounds chest)
