Happy they got rid of Baker really didn't like him. Hasn't really hit the past 2 years and has been in a quick decline ever since 2009.

He only hit over .300 against lefties. Yeah he didn't hit. He's a role player, and a good one against lefties.

        Right...but I don't know that a role-player like him can't be easily replaced.
If we had a set lineup and were in the thick of it, his value would be higher. As it is, he was taking up a spot that could be used to evaluate someone else who could presumably be more than a role-player.

Rizzo on pace for about 96 RBIs over a full season. Not bad with this lineup.

        wtf is up with Castro?

Castro plays every day, I'm sure it's just that he needs a day off.

He's mentally defeated. Guessing, guessing, guessing at the plate.

Honestly, I think Castro could use a day off maybe once every 10-12 days through the rest of the year. Even sitting him once every 2 weeks would be fine. He's started and played in damn near every game. Just needs to settle down and get back to what he was doing and not over doing.

Once off every 2 weeks would probably be about 3-4 days off from here til the end of the season, given if you allow him an extra day off with the day off we have during a two week span. If not, its probably just an extra 2 days off.

                  Cubs resign Shawn Camp:

The Cubs agreed to sign Shawn Camp to a one-year contract, the team announced. Agent Dave Meier represents Camp, who will earn a base salary of $1.35MM plus up to $200K in performance bonuses, according to MLB.com's Carrie Muskat (on Twitter).
Camp, who turned 37 yesterday, pitched out of the Cubs’ bullpen in 2012, appearing in a career-high 80 games. He tied for the MLB lead in appearances and posted a 3.59 ERA with 6.3 K/9, 2.4 BB/9 and a 47.4% ground ball rate in 77 2/3 innings. The Mariners signed Camp in February, but released him toward the end of Spring Training at which point the Cubs signed him to a minor league deal.

                    Small news.

The Chicago Cubs have a replacement for Bob Brenly, hiring former Houston Astros pitcher and broadcaster Jim Deshaies Monday as their television color analyst.

Deshaies has spent the past 15 years in the Astros television booth following a 10-year playing career, including seven seasons in Houston.

Brenly left the position after eight seasons in the booth with play-by-play man Len Kasper. He took a similar role with the Arizona Diamondbacks when negotiations on a four-year contract unraveled in early October.

The Cubs interviewed several candidates, including MLB Network analyst Dan Plesac and Fox studio analyst Eric Karros, industry sources told ESPNChicago.com's Bruce Levine. Both are former Cubs players.
Anybody is better than Brenly. Now if only Len could get out of town.

I actually wouldn't have minded Sutcliffe. I enjoy his commentary. As well as Karros.

Len is just...ughh. So boring. His calls are corny and he doesn't have a voice for TV commentary. Plus I don't think the guy played a lick of sports in his entire life. He just needs to go away some where.

...... I love Len. one of my favorites out there.

And little of I've heard of Deshaies is good & the people around baseball seem to like and think very highly of Deshaies. So I'm good with it.

Again, this is in comparison to Bob Brenly. Who might be the worst of the worst when it comes to commentating anything related to baseball.

                                Former Cubs talk:

Former Los Angeles Dodgers and Seattle Mariners outfielder Milton Bradley has been charged with abusing his estranged wife and faces up to 13 years in jail if convicted, city prosecutors announced Friday.

LOS ANGELES -- Former Los Angeles Dodgers and Seattle Mariners outfielder Milton Bradley has been charged with abusing his estranged wife and faces up to 13 years in jail if convicted, city prosecutors announced Friday.

Bradley, 34, was charged on Thursday with 13 misdemeanor counts of assault with a deadly weapon, vandalism and dissuading a witness from making a report.

                                Bradley
In addition to jail time, Bradley could face up to $13,000 in fines and restitution if convicted.

He remained free pending a scheduled Jan. 24 arraignment.

Prosecutors contend that Bradley threatened and attacked his wife five times in 2011 and 2012. He was twice arrested at the home in 2011.
