Appel is struggling to hit 90 on the gun tonight. Wild, All over the place.

At this point, it doesn't seem as if they are trying to coach Castro at all. He has all the same problems as he did when he came up...
I'm right with you. I don't dislike Svuem at all as a manager (I do have my gripes) but in all honesty, I just don't see him as that guy.
And by that I mean the guy who is going to be a manager, if we ever get these young guys to blossom. I feel he's just a filler candidate and when 2014/2015 come around and majority of these guys are up he won't be managing.

Svuem is just here for a couple of years while Epstien builds the team he wants, by 2014 or 15 Sandberg will be the manager and the team will be competing on a yearly basis. That's what I'm hoping for.

nice...the team's OF future looks incredibly bright. And a great deal, I think...even if he doesn't pan out to full expectation, he will be unloadable.

I'm gonna take a moment to make note of how great Dempster has been as a starter. When they put him in the rotation after 3 years as a closer I really had my doubts. That was several years ago, and, quite honestly, he has been wonderful. This year might even be his best on the mound, even if he doesn't often get run support. Arguably the most consistent performer on the team over that span.

Rudy Jaramillo has been fired. When he was hired all I heard was a lot of hype about he was one of the greatest hitting coaches around, but he never lived up to it. I don't think it was completely his fault though we haven't necessarily had the best of hitters during his tenure.

Over the years I have began to think that there is a real coaching/development problem with this club from the bottom up.

Without a doubt same as the player development problem.

Jae-Hoon Ha has been selected to play in the futures game, the only Cub picked.

Anthony Rizzo expected to be called up withing the next week, probably in time for the next home stand.

Just seen on twitter that Marlon Byrd has been suspended 50 games for the use of PEDs. Don't know the specifics, but I find it pretty disappointing. I liked Byrd while he was with us.
