Castro with another throwing error. Runner was booking down the line and he had no sense of urgency. Then threw it away.

Don't know what else some people have to see with this guy. It seems like a daily occurrence with him.

It seems like it because you're looking for it. Confirmation bias, man

LOL, I can't help it. I just hope Theo, Jed, and Joe all see the same thing.

I can't wait. Thank god WGN is still getting a decent amount of games this year. It wouldn't be fair to suffer through watching this team for so long and then not be able to watch when we're finally exciting again. Can't wait for tonight, and can't wait to make a trip to Wrigley to see a game there for the first time after Bryant gets pulled up.

I'm excited. Was looking at going to the game with my girl but just couldn't swing it. So I'm grilling on this beautiful day and having a few cold beverages and just excited to watch. You can feel a different energy this year for sure.

It's one game. In the standings it won't matter much. However that performance was typical. If you've been a fan for any length of time you know what I mean. With all the hype and electricity in that park the Cubs laid an egg just like always. The names change but the results are the same. It's just what we do. We choke. I could easily see them winning the next two when the hype has died down. But at some point this franchise is going to have to overcome themselves. Because one day we'll be back in the playoffs again, and when we are we can't be afraid of choking once again.

Not sure I would call it a choke in game 1.

First the strike zone was wildly inconsistent, for both teams, but really reared it's head in some crucial situations where we had chances to get runs across the board and you have to give credit where it is due. Wainwright made pitches when they mattered, plain and simple.

I thought there were some real positives to take out of this game for us. First of all the Bullpen was fantastic again. Phil Coke came in and closed the door when the Cardinals had the chance to put the game out of reach. Ramirez, Strop and Rondon in the 7th, 8th and 9th really shortens the game considerably. That is a great combo to have.

I really like LaStella at 9. Guy has a great approach at the plate. Works counts and extends at bats and did so last night.

I think Soler in the 2 hole is really going to be a good thing. We saw last night that he has the ability to dial it back when needed and be smart with the bat in his hand. (Had a great at bat to move over Fowler in the first) But what impressed me last year, and again over the course of spring training and last night is his plate discipline. For a guy his age, his vision and maturity at the plate is off the charts. I think about that potential first 4 guys in the lineup with Fowler, Soler, Rizzo and Bryant? They are going to score ALOT of runs in a Cubs uni.

I actually prefer us coming out like this. Wake us up a little bit and let these young guys know that being good isn't given, it's earned and hopefully this will dial back the hype train a bit as we move forward.

With all that said, GO CUBS GO!

Agree with pretty much all of what you said 13.

Also seemed like our team was making pretty good contact. Just weren't finding holes last night. The fielding was really sloppy though. Having said that, I think Soler has a lot of potential in the field despite his hesitations last night. He just has an absolute cannon for an arm.
