Re: The Friendly Confines: The Official Chicago Cubs Thread

"The Cubs and City Hall expect to nail down a $500 million deal by Monday’s home opener that will allow the team to renovate 99-year-old Wrigley Field and develop property around the stadium by putting up “at least two” new signs inside the ballpark — including a video scoreboard in left field — and building a 300-space parking garage. One day after local Ald. Tom Tunney (44th) portrayed an agreement on all of the “moving parts” as nowhere in sight, two sources close to the marathon negotiations predicted an agreement by Monday that would allow rooftop clubs to continue operating for the eleven-year “duration” of their revenue-sharing agreement with the
    Cubs. ...

Damn, I was really liking the idea of the Chicago Cubs in Rosemonts.

You are not the only one Mo, heard sentiment quite a little bit throughout the course of these discussions.

Screw the roof top owners and that lame deal. I still think the Cubs will move to a new stadium in the next 10 years.

I don't think the Ricketts want to leave before the 100 yr anniversary.
But after that, I say GO!

Smart decision by the city of Chicago. This is most certainly a result of the rumblings that Rosemont was ready to offer them big money to come there.

I really don't think they wanted to see the outcome of what would happen to Wrigleyville had the Cubs skipped town. Glad to see they got a deal done, and happy to hear Wrigley is getting renovated.

I love our team until the opponents half of the ninth inning if we're winning by 3 or less.

Time for Dale and Marmol to go, and bring Sandberg in.

I don't get how this man is still pitching in key situations. He was awful last season, and awful the season before. He had one good year. The man does not know how to pitch, which is what you need in the 9th inning unless you're throwing 98 mph. I'd rather have fricken Hector Rondon closing than Marmol.
