You can accept the strikeouts when you are 2nd in MLB in BB%. Starlin is struggling at the plate right now even I would admit that but the track record shows he will pull out of it. Just stop.

Bullpens are so tough to predict year to year. Let's hope Starters go deeper in games and when they get Ramirez back it settles things down a bit.

What sphincter are you pulling this from? You working in the Mets front office? There have been rumors for over a year now that they have been talking, but now it's some concrete evidence because they haven't made deal, that everyone should hop on the Hate Castro Agenda Train?

Go away with this nonsense man.

LMAO. You guys would take bullets for this dude, I swear.

Bryant and Russell have been in the bigs how long versus Castro??? C'mon man, that argument is weak.

It was either Heyman, Rosenthal, or Nightengale who said that the Mets do not want him. They don't like his defense. Shocker....lol. They want Russell instead. That's all anyone needs to know.

Great win against the Padres last night...they stole a couple when they were in Chicago, so good to pull one back.

The team can't afford to give up Castro, Russell, or Baez at this point, so I hope any talk of trading any of them is just banter.

Greg Maddux 2.0 with the complete game shutout tonight. Bryant and Russell going deep also. Love this team!

So, over/under on number of months before the Cubs overpay for a late-inning reliever...

Re: The Friendly Confines: The Official Chicago Cubs Thread

So...despite his strikeout ritual...Soler is still third on the team in BA.

The last time I decided to really doubt this year's squad, they won 6 in a row...

so let me just say the lack of depth in this team is disheartening...and I don't know how long Bryant/Rizzo, along with whcihever of Montero/Coghlan/Fowler contribute that day, can carry the offense.

The x-factors for me right now are Castro and Soler. The team could really use just a little more from each of them...Castro needs to start doing more than hitting singles, while Soler needs to just get on-base more, or start turning some doubles into HRs.

Castro isn't striking out a lot, and isn't walking a lot. He's grounded out in well over a third of his ABs...8 double plays...Lack of doubles, lack of HRs, plus Grounding out almost twice as much as flying out...he's not getting the ball in the air much at all. He's making contact at a ridiculous rate... Last night, 0-4, no Ks. Posting a slightly negative WAR.

Just sign Bryant for like 25 years now.

Fowler, Bryant, Rizzo...really the only Offense the team has.

Castro at 4th is stupid...for the reasons mentioned above...

Put Coghlan at 4th, Soler...i don't care...anyone that makes the other team respect his ability to hit the ball out of the infield.

Would be great to win this series tomorrow. Lester vs Scherzer

I liked Montero in the 4-hole, but I guess Maddon doesn't want to go lefty-lefty with Rizzo.

I wonder if trade talk is getting to Castro at the plate. He's pulling off of everything the last month or so, looking like he's trying to hit every hittable pitch out of the park.

Looks like it...hitting for extra bases, and showing up at the right time.

Next step is getting the Ks down and the OBP up...

Really nice to imagine how things will look if Russell and Soler straighten things out, and Castro returns to form.

Want the win today; St. Louis just playing .500 ball of late but maintaining the gap. Every time the gap gets below 4, the Cubs slip and the Cards win 2 in a row.

I don't understand why you don't just put Montero in the 2 hole, and move everyone behind down one.

I understand wanting to get Bryant as many at bats as possible, but you have to him in situations where he and Rizzo can drive in runs consistently.
