    5. David Forst

and also can Gibbons he was smart last year but the beer got to him and tonight he's spouting off about RBI's and that's my breaking point and Demarlo Hale is like a top 5 managerial prospect in the league so y'know

So... most disappointing month in Blue Jays history? I'm inclined to say yes. (Unless you want to count October 1987.)

I think this nudges past October '87 because in the last week and a half of that season they lost Fernandez and Whitt while George Bell put so much pressure on himself that his bad disappeared. At least down that stretch the pitching was LIGHTS OUT!

This month was supposed to be a chance to make a push and the Jays were getting healthy. They just plain ol' fell apart. There's no excuse really.

Jays acquire John Mayberry Jr. from the Phillies for minor league 3B prospect Gustavo Pierre.

Is Mayberry Jr. the first son of a former Blue Jay to actually play in the regular season? (Let's face it, I think he's going to get a few ABs here) I know Buck Martinez's kid had a cup of a coffee in spring training years ago but never made the actual roster.

You'll get some pretty decent outfield defense and some home run pop against left handed pitchers. He can also play some first base to spell Encarnacion. That's really about it. Mayberry had so many chances to prove he could be an everyday player, but he just never grasped it.

I saw Mayberry Jr. bop two homers against us a few years ago. Hopefully it was the stadium, not the pitching!

I'll definitely go with October 1987. That team had 96 wins with seven games left to play. It could (should?) have been the only the only Jays team to win 100 games.

This year's team was deeply flawed in so many ways. I was surprised how poorly it played in August but I guess my expectations weren't that great.

So Morrow's been reinstated and Lawrie shut down for the year....

I really hope the Jays experiment with putting Morrow in as the closer. I think that if you let him go balls to the wall in the 9th that he could be a very effective closer.

As for Lawrie....Well there are no words. If he can't have a healthy season next year than i'm pretty much willing to give up on the guy.

Pretty sure Lawrie would come back if we were in the race but the team is just giving up on the year and making sure he doesn't hurt himself. I'd like to see Bau move in to third so that Pompey can get some PT.

I see the Blue Jays are poised to do the whole "too little too late" deal right now.

I can't wait to see Norris though.

You could be right but he definitely needs games to work on his swing. It seems like he's barely played the past two seasons. I wonder if Winter League ball is an option? I realize there's always a chance he could get hurt down there but he needs the at bats in my opinion.

If i'm Lawrie I go to Jays management and ASK for permission to play in winter league this offseason. As you said it seems he hasn't played that much in the last couple years. At some point, the rap of being a gifted but ultimately too injury prone player is going to end up being right. He NEEDS to work on his swing and controlling his excitement/style of play so that he doesn't kill himself out there.

So the Jays win five consecutive games and today the Jays have sent me an e-mail asking me if I want to buy post-season tickets now. LOL! Rogers your optimism and greed knows no bounds.
