I think Cueto will end up moving to one of those AL East teams. Bruce too. Think Frazier will stick around. Probably deal some spare parts as well (Pena, maybe Hoover?).

Probably after the ASG. Keep the fans engaged in the year you host it, profit. Then hopefully sell after you rake in that dough.

Frazier isn't being shopped, that we do know as Walt said he was untouchable. I would say probably other than Billy, they will probably listen to any reasonable offer. I should say as far as position players are concerned, our young arms that are cheap and controllable Im sure are off limits.

Its going to be interesting to see what happens as I saw somewhere there was some FO exec that want to blow it up, but it sounds like ownership isn't interested in a complete overhaul. Cant remember where I heard that rumor, but it wasn't all that long ago.

Personally I don't think we need a complete tear down, but things definitely need to be shaken up as this core has had their chance an failed. Votto contract makes him basically untradeable, so hopefully Votto stays productive and healthy. As much as I love BP I would probably trade him if they got a solid offer.
I would think position player wise they would listen to any reasonable offers, and try to build the offense around Votto,Frazier, and Billy, along with Mesoraco, but depending on how his surgery goes, he might end up being our LF or RF'er.
I really like how Tucker Barnhart has progresses this season, he always been good defensively, but the bat was weak, but he has shown improvement this season, and I think even if Mez cant catch anymore we have a solid catcher in Tucker.

Royals just lost Gordon for 8 weeks. Walt should have been on the phone the minute it happened offering Byrd. Desperate teams overpay... Same with Cueto and Chapman and the AL East. That division is so tight, get them all into a bidding war. Lot of great prospects in that division.

Yeah that would be my thinking as well, and its possible that Walt did that too. I did hear that the Royals might hold off for now on making a trade with how well they are playing.

Royals actually could use another starting pitcher too. Not sure that rotation this year is good enough to get them where they want to got this season, without adding a quality starter to it. I know if it were me I wouldn't have a lot of faith in Young,Volquez, or Guthrie in the postseason if it were me.

Anyone watch the s***show today? No excuse for Mattheus not covering home. Nothing new with my next comment, Price is a horrific manager. He's lost this team.

It was so embarrassing yesterday that I didn't even watch todays game, and watched the Futures game. I have MILB TV so Im tempted to just watch our minor leagues and quit watching the Reds this season, be easier on my blood pressure, lol.

I wonder if all the trade talk has had some negative impact on this team, as there isn't a day goes buy that the Reds aren't in the trade rumors.

It does look like Price has lost the team, and while its not fair to put all the blame on him, because these past 2 years have abeen a challenge with all the injuries with us not having any depth, that no manager would have did much better.

I do think however that a change needs to be made at manager, as I would think that owners, GM and execs have seen enough out of Price's managing to know he isn't the right manager, and is much better as a pitching coach.

I agree. After living in the Twin Cities for 5 years and watching Gardenhire make chicken salad out of chicken...I think he would be able to Skipper the talent we have after whatever trades are made.

My wife just ask me about who I thought should be our next manager if Price is out, and I had forgot all about Gardy being available. I agree, he didn't have a lot to work with, yet had a lot of competitive teams. I do worry he is a lot like Dusty, though, capable of getting teams to the postseason, but nothing more. Granted Gardy had tough luck a lot of times in the postseason with who he had to play, where as Dusty was usually part of the issue if why his teams choked and failed come Oct.

Back when Dusty was fired, and Paul Oneill was interested in coming home to manage the team, had me intrigued. I think Paul could make a good manager, same goes with Barry Larkin when he is ready to do it, as he has interest in managing but said a while back he wasn't ready to manage just yet.
Part of me once a proven guy as manager, but we have seen over the past few seasons that don't always need to be the case for success.

Personally I have said for a few years back when Dusty was still here that the organization as a whole needed to clean house in way of managers and coaches for the most part, that meant more than just getting rid of Dusty and Jacoby, which did need done, but I believe some of our issues runs deeper than at the big league level, and still does for that matter.

Say what you want about the Cards, that organization knows what they are doing and it starts from the time a player becomes part of the organization. You have to have strong teaching in the minors, as that's where it starts, and imo that's where are biggest weakness is.

We have some good pitching instructors thruout, but managing and hitting instructors I have doubts about in a lot of cases thruout the organization. I do think Long was a improvement from Jacoby, but we have guys clueless when they get to the bigs, which shouldn't be the case, and that's no fault to the major league hitting coach, that's on the instructors donw on the farm for not having them ready.

Great points, couldn't agree more about the organization, the lack of fundamentals is mind boggling. Would love to see Paul or Barry get the chance. They were intense leaders as players, I don't think BP would be tweeting during games anymore.

Id say with Pauly there would definitely be no in game tweeting. I actually don't know how I feel about Barry as a manager, Im on the fence with how I think he would do.

Ill tell you a guy I think would be a good manager, but not sure now would be the time since he played with all these guys, but Corky Miller I think would make a good manager. Not sure now is the time, since all those guys were basically teammates with him at some point, and imo its better not to have this type of ties with players as a manager.

Price has a more analytic mind than Dusty had, lol. Analytics isn't the issue with our manager, lack of experience and the fact that he is a pitching coach and not a manager is the issue. Price actually does a good job with his lineup card/order, heck he is better at that than Dusty was, oddly enough Dusty handled the bullpen better which you wouldn't think would be the case.

For a while now there isn't anything really our manager or his staff could have done that would have probably changed the outcome of games. Managers and coaches can only do so much, they cant hit, field, and pitch for them too.

Not saying a change isn't needed at manager, but this is hardly all on Price or his staff for where we are record wise. I do think we probably need to go in a different direction at manager, but Im not going to say its all on him for the lack of success, just like it wasn't all on Dusty while he was here.

Really love the new HR derby format, and it was great that the Toddfather won it all. I had Frazier winning it all, but thought it would be Pujols he the finals with him. Also glad a Cubs player didn't gte out of the 1st rd

Hopefully they keep this new Derby format, really adds a lot of drama and excitement all the way thru it, and Id have to say this was the best Derby I have ever seen, but being in Cincy and Frazier winning it all adds to being the best Ive seen. Josh Hamilton a few years back in Yankee Stadium was probably the most excitement for me till tonight, although always loved watching Griffey Jr.

After last night, I think it's safe to say that if the front office tried to trade Frazier, fans would burn down GABP.

He'll be a Reds lifer. For better or worse.
