He's a lot better then Rob Faulds and Rod Black. I bet he meant to say it hit his foot. Jamie knows a little baseball as a fan. He's shown that he cares about the game and has shown pride for the game. I remember many times on Sportsnet News when he'd show some baseball cards from his collection.

Give the guy some time it's his first year. I'm sure many of the great broadcasters of baseball made faux pas like this in their first year.
if you visit the forums on bluejayway.ca, the posters really give Jaime a hard time, talking about his voice, his errors and what not... He's even posted there and it is in fact him because he said he'd wear a pink tie for the opener against the Yanks and he was wearing it last friday. I think it takes a lot of balls to go to a forum where the fans are openly criticizing you about the way you look, or the errors you make on TV.

He's definatly better than Faulds and I think he's better than Black(who looks like he doesn't care about the Jays)...

Honestly, we were spoiled with Shulman and Buck.

Jamie's improving. He's a poster on a site I go to and he encourages constructive criticism.

I remember when there were rumblings Jamie would be the pbp guy at Sportsnet I thought it was a bad move. I thought he was a football and hockey guy. I later found out he's a hardcore baseball fan.

He's a lot better than Rob Faulds and gasp.... Rod Black (this guy is just awful. He needs to stick with the other 32 sports he covers).

I just checked it out. I'll have to join up on that forum for sure. It's always nice to talk about the Jays.

As for the game right now....Bush is having his troubles.

I hated Jamie when he first started but hes gotten better and now I dont even mind the guy. Bush looked good in his first couple outings back from the Minors, but he does seem to have trouble early on maybe he will turn around things?

Man this team had so many chances to win!

I think this confirms that JP needs to get a power bat for next season. "sigh"

Nice win by the Jays tonight. I wonder what Alex Rios is eating cuz he's hit 2 HRs in the deepest part of the park in the last two days It's also nice to see Aaron Hill hit one out.

Dustin McGowan did a great job on the mound tonight but we could've lost this game due to Pete Walker. It's very rare to hear Jays fans booing their own players but Pete deserved it.

                      PROCLAMATION TIME!

I'm putting this out for the record. This is the most important road trip for the Blue Jays in 5 yrs. The Jays really need to win 10 out of the 13 games on this trip if they have any hope of the wild card.

Here's to hoping they can do it

What we need to do is hope that Oakland wins the West and the Angels fight for the WC because I think Anaheim will be an easier team to catch in the standings as opposed to the surging A's.

I put the Jays playoff chances at .00000001%. Basically the Jays are toast.

They're too far behind in the WC and the division race. And the other problem they have is that they're behind a couple of teams. Don't forget the Jays number 1 and 2 starter are still injured.

I'm actually looking foward to September to see who the Jays call up from the minors. Hopefully Gross and Quiroz get the call. JP said the other night he wasn't likely to call anybody up that's not on the 40 man roster so there's little chance you will see Marcum or Jackson.

The Jays really need to add a cleanup hitter and a legit number 2 pitcher for next season. I would like to see them go after Carlos Lee and AJ Burnett. We have the payroll flexability to get both guys. No team is going to add as much payroll as the Jays will be doing for next season.

I'm also willing to trade Rios and Chacin to add a power bat. JP has done a solid job of stocking up on pitching prospects. Guys like Purcey, Marcum, Banks, Jansen, and Jackson should be used as trade bait.

Doc should be back in a week hopefully and Lilly has started throwing. We are, I believe 14-13 without Halladay.

As for off-season targets, we've discussed this on the Jays board on MLB.com. A lot of people would like to see Brian Giles in a Jays uniform because he has a lofty OBP. He leads the ML in walks and he's still a good power hitter, but he's suffered due to Petco being a great pitcher's park. There's also Konerko who will be available. I think JP will dangle Hudson and some pitching prospects and try to acquire Dunn from Cincinnati.

Burnett is too hit or miss. His ERA is solid, but I'm worried he may get injured or that his production won't be that of a guy who you pay 10 million to. I'd rather spend less on Washburn, or get a proven number one guy in Matt Morris.

Brian Giles would be a great pick up. I hope JP doesn't get fooled by his Petco numbers because he'd be a great hitter at the Rogers Centre. I wouldn't mind trading Chacin for a bat but I absolutely don't want to see Hudson leaving. The Jays have gone through so many 2B since Alomar left that I worry that no matter how good prospects that we may go through that merry-go-round again.

I think Giles would be a good addition but only for next season. He's getting up there in age and a decline in performance can be expected. I expect he would want a 3 year contract, and by the 2nd and 3rd year he would probably be the DH.

I mentioned Lee above but I just found out the Brewers have an 8.5 mil option on him for next season which I expect they will pick up. Konerko is another guy I would like to see.

Jeff Blair reported JP is interested in Washburn. I would stay away from him. His K/IP is low and he's had a lot of luck this season to push his ERA down. He's turned a lot of DP's this season which is strange because he's a flyball pitcher. Morris is interesting and I would love to see him in a Jays uni but I still like Burtnett the best. Burnett's numbers look good across the board and he's still young. If I had to give a pitcher a 3yr/30 mil contract in the off-season, I would go with Burnett.

The Jays are probably going to have to overpay for FA's to come here and they are fighting the Canadian stigma according to JP.

It will be interesting to see what happens to the infield next season. When Hillenbrand was aquired I thought it was a 1 year thing, but he has proven to be a pretty valuable player. The only way to get rid of the logjam is to play Hill at 3B, Adams at SS, Hudson at 2B, Hillenbrand at 1B, and Koskie at DH. The problem is that Koskie loses value if he's removed from the 3B position. There isn't enough power there either unless a big bat is aquired to play in the OF.
