Charlotte beat Richmond tonight. They should be middle of the pack, but the future is bright for the 49ers.

        Re: The Atlantic 10 Thread

With Dayton beating Temple today, and X finally (hopefully) getting back on track, league play is going to be crazy the next two months. I love it!

BTW, Marino, nice win by the Niners on the road today. St. Joe's has played well this season. That's another good win for Charlotte.

Now Billy Baron is stuck playing at Rhody for another coach. That was the main reason he transferred from Virginia. I liked Jim Baron as a person but he didn't get the results as far as the post-season goes. Yeah, the firing doesn't surprise me. I threw out a wild guess of a replacement on a Xavier board yesterday: Danny Hurley. He's done a good job in his two years at Wagner, has the coaching pedigree, and is from the east coast. He's an up-and-comer. Rhody would be smart to at least take a look at him.

                Re: The Atlantic 10 Thread

Well...is this conference going to be sick next season or what? 16 teams with VCU and Butler joining immediately instead of waiting a season. Half the teams in the league are potential Dance candidates: X, Temple, VCU, Butler, UD, UMass, St. Joe's and SLU. Plus, Rhody has a new coach (Danny Hurley) and will improve (at least in 2013-14). GW is on the way back up, La Salle should have a good team, Richmond and Charlotte likely will as well. The three that should struggle are Fordham (they always suck), Duquesne (new coach and most of the team transferred) and St. Bona (lots of experience graduated). This might be the most I've looked forward to conference play since X joined the league in 1995-96. Working out the scheduling will be interesting. I imagine they will do one "rival" 2x and the other 14 teams 1x for 16 conference games. Possible rival pairings: X-UD, SLU-Butler, VCU-Richmond, Temple-St. Joe's, La Salle-Duquesne, GW-Charlotte, UMass-Rhody, St. Bona-Fordham.

I know it's the off-season but what do you all think?

I think you have it about right. To be honest, I kinda want Temple to stay in the A-10. I know the Butler and VCU move probably was made in reaction to Temple leaving but man this conference should be fun. Oh well, I'll still watch the A-10. Even though I am a Temple alum, I am a fan of the Big 5 Schools ( St. Joe's and La Salle).

It's going to be weird not having Temple in the A-10 come 2013-14. I would hope that, despite the move, Temple will still play their Big 5 games. I don't know why they would stop. BE schools fill their schedules with non-conference cupcakes, it seems, because they'll get RPI boosts from their conference games. That should give Temple no reason to stop playing Penn, La Salle, and St. Joe's.

Temple will continue to play their Big 5 games, no chance that they won't. However, they won't be playing St. Joe's and La Salle twice a year anymore. Which sucks on one hand but if you ever been to Tom Gola Arena ( La Salle), you won't be disappointed that it will be every other year now.

Of the 14 teams that played in the A-10 before the new conference realignment, I have been to 12 of the 14 arenas and La Salle has by far the worst. The only one in the conversation with it is Fordham. I haven't been to UMASS or Rhody arena but I haven't heard bad things about their arena.

I think its a matter of time before George Mason makes a move probably to the A-10. The CAA looks like it is falling apart.

Looks like it's time to re-up those Alumni Season tickets from VCU. Also I feel that I may be sick next year around conference tourney time. Now I have a reason to go see the new Barclays Center. Next year should be fun.

I know. I should have mentioned that too. Sorry for not doing that. I didn't mean to ignore the fact that they are leaving as well. I guess Temple has just been a mainstay, and successful, for so long in the league and Charlotte is newer not having lived up to what most folks expected of them when Coach Lutz and his team joined, as you mentioned earlier, the former not being around is what will be strange to me.
