Against Purdue you could tell they were pumped for that game. Against Seton Hall, they basically did the same thing Dayton did. Sleep walk through the first half and then turn it on. They have a problem of not getting up for every game. Mooney does not appear to have that real fiery personality but is good at teaching his offense and defense. One of the seniors needs to become a vocal and fiery leader.
The other thing IMO is Anderson is only playing avg right now. Some of that has to do with Gonzalvez graduating and KA getting the opposing teams top defender but other times he just looks to be going through the motions.
Mooney is in no jeopardy since he did a good job turning around a program that was left in bad shape after Wainwright moved to DePaul. Unlike Xavier, Dayton, and Temple, Richmond is not a team that can reload every year and the alumni know that.
We'll see what happens in A-10 play but the schedule, while easier than some could also be detrimental. Only play X, Dayton, and Temple once. I think they need to win the reg season title if they want to go dancing without winning the tourney.
The ooc schedule was not as strong this year since WF, GT, AZ ST, and Seton Hall are just bad to avg, and of course they lost to ODU, who is the 2nd best team they played. There were no Mizzou, Miss St, Florida this year, all of whom they beat last year. Plus the conf did not collect many marquee wins so getting as many bids this year as last, will be tough.
I know I was excited for UR(father's an alum) and FSU(alum) going into the season. Now it's going to take some work.
