Yeah rough night for the league, although a couple of losses were not as bad. Mainly Richmond and Duquesne. By the end of the season, I think Miami(OH) should be one of the too MAC teams so I don't think X's loss will be that bad in the end. The league does need some more good wins or that projected 4 bids will dwindle to 1,2

Richmond was out shot from the ft line 20-1. They always struggle in Norfolk so tonights loss was expected. In fact ODU was a 4.5 pt favorite. They have a good squad and will contend for an at-large bid if they dont win the CAA. Only loss so far is Gtown and that was by 3 in 1st game of season I think. Up next is AZ St in Tempe on Sunday

I see a potential 4th meeting of the season in Round 1 of the 2011 NIT between Xavier and Dayton. Oh it'll be fun!

2 nice wins for what's been a bad start to the season for the A-10 tonight. Temple beats Gtown and X squeaks by Butler

Yeah, they were good wins for sure. That Butler-Xavier game was ugly. Lots of missed shots and bodies on the floor. Exciting at the end though.

Last I heard was suspended indefinately.

EDIT: Talked to Bras today and it was confirmed that Spears was kicked off but he wouldn't tell me why. Plus Coach Major put a ban on Twitter for the players.

Well whatever the case, they picked up a nice win over the Vols on Friday. Although, from looking at the stats, that game might have been "brick city" for 40 minutes.

Yeah it was a great gameplan from Major and the Niners actually played some defense, it was a sight to see, hope they keep it up.

Xavier had an another ugly game last night against Gonzaga. This team is still attempting to come together but they have some real problems. I predict about a .500 record in conference play with few, if any, wins on the road. Holloway is all they have. They have a lot of talent but Frease is inconsistent, McLean is inconsistent, Lyons has a bad attitude and isn't a great shooter, Jackson is supposed to be a senior leader but hasn't done much of it, and they are getting no production from the bench. They are a frustrating team to watch.

Maybe Charlotte should kick off Spears more often, they have won 4 in a row since his departure.

While I know Georgia Tech is down this year, it is still always good to beat an ACC school (as long as it is not my beloved Wolfpack)

Ready for conference play to begin.

Me too. Once Xavier gets this Crosstown Shootout done with on Thursday (and I don't have much faith that they'll win) it's on to Rhode Island. Going to be interesting to see how things shake out in conference play. Temple, by far, is my favorite to win the league. As much as it pains me, Dayton has to be up there too, but they haven't shown much in the Brian Gregory era with being able to win A10 road games. Beyond that, I think there are a bunch of teams, like Xavier, Richmond, Charlotte, La Salle (yes, I said it), competing for the conference top 5. If SLU gets Mitchell and Reed to come back, they could be a factor too.

Richmond is going to lose 10+ games due to the inability to make FT's. Missed 3/4 in the final 2.6 seconds to lose yesterday. Finished 9/18. How a team can be amongst the nation leaders in fg% and 3pt fg% and only shoot 60% from the line is beyond me

Yeah, hopefully Charlotte can get Dewhurst back to add a little more depth. The 49ers have been playing but 8 players this season.

Those are killers. Outside of Tu Holloway, X doesn't really have anyone that can consistently make FT's. I can see them losing a game where a few made FT's would have made the difference. The worse is when your team goes 19-29 from the line, the other team goes 8-10, and your team loses. I've seen those games before.

kodiak, I would guess that after the success the Spiders had last season, that the natives in Richmond are getting a little restless over the start they've had?

X is running a rotation of maybe 8 too, including a walk-on now that Jay Canty is out with a broken foot. It's probably going to be a rough one for the Muskies.
