Re: The 2009/2010 Big East Thread
I was encouraged by Pitt's performance in KC. They beat a decent Wichita St. team, and then hung with Texas for 32 minutes until they wore down at the end. Getting Jermaine Dixon and Gilbert Brown will be a big boost come Big East time. They especially missed Brown's size today, because a lot of the time they were playing Adams (5'10, maybe), Woodall (5'10), and Gibbs (6'1) together at the same time. That might work against some teams, but probably not against a team with Texas's size.Comment

Re: The 2009/2010 Big East Thread
Very impressed by what I saw out of both Pittsburgh and Cincinnati last night. Actually the past two nights. Cronin has done a great job in rebuilding the Bearcats. Don't think they are capable of contending for the BE crown this year, but I wouldn't be surprised if they don't finish in the Top 5.
And its odd seeing Pittsburgh being in rebuilding mode. I honestly didn't think they would keep the game as interesting as they did against Texas last night, but I was obviously wrong. Lot of young talent on that Pitt team.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

UConn will put an end to this when we stink up the Garden tonight. Team has looked so bad the first three games."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: The 2009/2010 Big East Thread
On a side note, how are we the best blocking team in the nation EVERY YEAR? I understand Calhoun recruits shot blockers, but he must be great at teaching it. From what I've seen from Edwards this year so far, he had to have been taught how to block better.
On another side not, can anyone imagine if we had Dyson last year for the NCAA tourney. I am almost positive we would've had a UConn-UNC title, which would've been a great great game. I considered Dyson as our best player until he went down. He was atleast our best offensive player. That game would've been two pretty even teams. IMO it would've been a championship to remember.
Well anyways, I think this team can definitely be a 4 seed or up i the tourney. That is just what I've seen from them so far. Hopefully they show up like they did against LSU, not like they did against W&Mary, and Colgate.I will always, always be a Jets fan. But trust me it hurts.Comment

Can't wait for 5pm tonight!!
As usual when we play the Dookies, the only way they are staying in this game is if the officials call the game tight as hell - which of course they will.:

Thought we had things figured out after the LSU game but I guess not. Outrebounded yet again. Barely made half our free throws. No 3's.
Pretty terrible performance.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

I think its a very safe comment to make when saying that UConn is a better team then they showed today.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

IMO, a big game for UofL tomorrow afternoon as we play UNLV on the road. I say this because its the only road game we'll play before travelling to Kentucky the first of the year, and then to South Florida.
Curious to see how we play in a true road game and how much better we've gotten since the Hall of Fame showcase.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Looks like it's the Mountaineers will be taking on Portland for the 76 Classic Championship Sunday night. I would be lying if I said that I didn't expect WVU to be playing in the Championship, but I would be lying if I told you that I figured it would be against Portland. They've had an impressive showing thus far with wins over UCLA and Minnesota. I just think that WVU's depth and athleticism will be too much for them to overcome Sunday night but you never know. Welcome back Mr. Ebanks!!!Comment
