    Re: NBA 2k15 Beluba Q&A

    Question 1:

Can anything be done about corner 3's only counting as 2 points?

    Question 2:

Is there a reason for both highlights and the player of the game montage being unavailable when playing games with longer quarter lengths?

      Hi Mike,

I've been seeing a similar issue. I believe ronnie2k has sent it to dev already but thought i'd post here for you to see.

There are an abnormal amount of misses by some players in HOF simulation setting in NBA 2k15. This issue affects many types of players but my main concern is for shooters who have high standing mid/3 ratings. As a test you can check players in freestyle who cannot get green releases with standing mid or 3pt shots - be sure not to stand too close to paint or you point to close rating not standing mid/3 ratings. You can land on the white line but it will always report early or late. These players will clank in online and offline modes much more than other players (or bums for that matter). You can go into other skill settings and the players do not have the issue - maybe whatever is causing this in other settings isn’t as affected in these other settings like SS, etc.

I checked around 10 teams worth of rosters from our personal 2k league. I was mainly checking shooters and players with above 70+ standing mid/3pt. This would be ~50 of 130 total players were found to have this issue. Below are the names of the "broken" players along with shot base. I have also checked players without the issue and did not see any of the bad shotbase defined for working players. This is just an educated guess to what is broke but 2k really needs to take a look.

Without fixing this issue these players require momentum or leaner shots so that the moving mid/3pt shot rating kicks in. It is not ideal or “sim” to be standing wide open but then do a running shot b/c of the bug in the game. I believe its down to shot base because players with good shot base even with poor shooting ratings can still get green release in practice which is taking out some of the factors of a shot going in (such as having a dimer/floor general on that same team). If this issue was across the board it would be ok but does not seem to be any logic behind who gets it and who does not.

3 guys I tested the fix on were courtney lee, kevin martin, and Arron Afflalo. I changed those shotbase to a generic one I know works. For example I know Martell Webster is money and can get a green release in practice. He uses JumpShot40 for shotbase. I swapped that out on the test players shotbase and went back into freestyle and they were then able to get green release. I then took this modified roster patch and created a quick league with another member of my league to test his fixed players as well (Parsons, Ross, Melo) and we had noticeable better shots and would hit those open shots that would just brick before.

Like I said before there doesn't seem to be logic behind who has this issue outside of shot base and there are some real good shooters on the list. If there are 50 players on 10 teams it only would tell me there are well over 100 players with this issue. Its just crazy that guys like Love, Melo, Korver, Martin, Lee (very high standingshot), and countless others clank vs some others who can hit.

List of players with the issue and shotbase are at the bottom of this doc.

Yes, I'm working with my shots engineer on CPU 3PT attempts. We're getting close to NBA averages but are still tweaking
Speaking of gameplay fixed, I notice that when the other team got the offensive rebound, all my players tend to draw toward the ball inside the paint leaving guys outside the arc wide open every single time. This has happened many many times online wheather on my team or the opponent. And i am playing man-to-man defense.

Mike said that they're working on making it easier to walk the ball upcourt so that's positive.

Have noticed this offline as well. The small point guard should not be going for rebounds under the basket competing with the bigs.

If you rush your offense you might not be giving your teammates enough time to run your shooters off screens. For the Play Through POE, you should see more play calls for the player you choose. Also if you run your offense through him properly you'll get bonuses to your attributes... many of the POEs work that way.

Y'all really need to do a better job at explaining how EVERYTHING works and effects the gameplay in your game. I don't understand why y'all have chosen to make consumers guess how things work. What happened to the days of you guys releasing detailed info before release?

                Couple questions:

                1. Why wouldn't 2K allow leaderboard and lobby in online game? The community have been crying over this for years.

                2. Before each online game, there are strategy and POE that you can set...my question is why should the strategy and POE that you set be viewable by your opponent? And yet during the game, you can pause the screen and changed up without being viewable by your opponent? It doesn't make sense to allow them to see what you do before the start of the game. Also why can't these strategies and POE be saved and load up every time i start an online game? In other words, if i am lazy and want to use the same strategy every time i start a game, it should just loaded up for me like the "coach settings" without me having to set it up every single time i play an online game.

I once blocked 3 in a row by the same player at the hoop, but eventually he scored on me (I think it was Chris Bosh).

                  2) Sometimes my player overreacts toward the ball in odd situations (especially when my teammate is inbounding after an opponent scores). Any chance on getting that toned down?

I notice this too. How come sometimes you can't pick up the ball? Sometimes you can't jump also.

                    Re: NBA 2k15 Beluba Q&A

Great, great thread, thanks beluba for answering so many questions. A couple I have regarding Post Play (have seen one of these mentioned but did not see a reply, sorry if I missed it)

                    1) Is there a way to get Centers and Power Forwards to go straight up and dunk more often? It seems a standing layup animation kicks in probably 95% of the time, even when a guy's standing dunk rating is high. And when you do get a standing dunk, that seems to only happen when a guy is wide open underneath. Guys like Shaq, Dwight Howard, etc could/can routinely go straight up and dunk in traffic right through/over defenders down low easily. Even if the success rating would be lowered, i'm wondering if it should be at least attempted a lot more often. Especially on offensive rebounds, in real NBA ball, a big gets an offensive rebound, and then pops right back up for a quick, 2 handed power slam. Not saying every C or PF should be able to do this, but the athletic ones at least. Am I not inputting the correct sequence of buttons for standing dunks versus driving dunks (which are much easier to attempt)

                    2) When you have an defensive mismatch down low, is there a way to get teamates to help? Demarcus Cousins should not be 1 on 1 on the low block against Ricky Rubio and no help come. In some situations I realize you can try to call for a trap, but that isn't always possible or realistic.

                    3) On the Offensive side of low post mismatches, why is it so difficult to back down against a small player? It seems very similar in responsiveness to backing down another big. Same example from my second question, in real life, if Cousins had a point guard on him on the low block, he'd take one drop step and go right up and dunk it if no help had arrived. But in 2k15, you are left with some sort of layup, hookshot, or post fade animation shot. And that is after a couple dribbles of backing your man down under the basket.

Thanks again for spending so much time on this thread, reading your insights has been great!

No disrespect to Jersez but this is a public forum. (Twitter beef)

Question 1. Beluba why do I get put into fancy dunk animations with defenders trailing behind me when I didn't input one. (Has lead to chase down blocks)

Question 2. Why is the ai still able to guard everyone no matter the speed of the ball handler or lack of defense skill by the specfic ai defender.

Question 3. Why does my ai teammates not try to help more on drives even when protect the paint isn't set. They purposly snap on to their defensive assignment or just stand there.

I sent you a clip on twitter where a user is turbo sprinting up the court with KD and passes by me (iggy), but instead of Bogut meeting KD at the rim he tries to step out to the perimeter. Basically he went to were KD was and not where he ended up, which was at the rim dunking.

I don't know, just seemed like bad ai logic because Bogut is a paint protector not necessarily a help defender.

2 & 3 especially. It's kinda crazy in a funny WTH kind of way when those PG's battle a big posted up low and win the defensive battle, maybe even the rebound!

                              Re: NBA 2k15 Beluba Q&A

here's a couple that bug me that I haven't seen mentioned (or answered yet at least):

                              1) Does shot fatigue affect layups? MyCareer player is still low 70's so I drive a lot more than shoot jumpers, but I notice a LOT of blown layups. Sure some are contested but it just seems like a lot of pretty easy ones roll off the rim. It could just be my player's skills but may be worth looking at.

                              2) My player has decent enough inside shooting stats (so for running/standing layup) and absolutely terrible dunk stats (upper 40's), yet on a lot of drives he's trying to dunk over defenders and blows a ton of those too. Is it just me needing to let go of turbo or should the shooting logic be tuned to prefer layups over dunks depending on rating and whether or not it's an open dunk or a situation where it should be a layup attempt in traffic? It just seems like holding turbo shouldn't make you dunk if you're trying to drive hard to the rim but don't have high enough stats to dunk over guys yet.

Also, and this isn't gameplay related just thought I'd mention it, any idea why Joakim Noah would disappear from the league entirely in my 2nd MyCareer season? Really bummed me out after signing with the Bulls. It happened on 2k14 too after a few seasons so it seems like there's a bug carried over or something. No mention of retirement (which would be way too early anyway) or career ending injury (are those even in this game?) in either case. Probably not your wheelhouse so don't feel compelled to respond to this one if you're still interacting on this thread. I think I missed the boat unfortunately.

still more productive that you complaining about complaints. Just sayin'.

Mike any chance having better ball rim physics? Talking about long rebounds...

I have a bit of an issue with hands up defense with the right stick. It moves my player out of position when using right stick....

                                Thanks
