One thing that works well that I haven't really seen suggested is hand offs. Give it to your big in the high post and then hold B/O and give it to your guard coming around the outside. It's a decent alternative to pick and roll.

Re: How do i get past CPU?
The sizeup speed launch advice is amazing and has done wonders for me..The only problem is the launch is VERY VERY VERY specific and you can't launch out of a sizeup when you want to.
It HAS to be a very specific point in the animation..If you move the stick too early in the size up, it will be sluggish..If you move the stick too late in the size up,it will be sluggish.
By the way, don't bother trying to getting past a defender by using hesitations,it never works and your defender will always warp up close and stop your momentum. (Ridiculous...)Jordan Mychal Lemos

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.Comment

Re: How do i get past CPU?
Could be my imagination, but reducing the CPU on-ball defense down to 20 seems to really loosen things up and I can explode a bit better.
CPU D is still solid with this adjustment as well (PRO Difficulty).
Again, I am pretty sure this was done to eliminate the "zig zag" cheese online. If this works for online players, great, but I wish us offline guys did not have to be effected.
(A great example is use Steph Curry and watch the CPU press you full court. They will ALWAYS make contact and body you up down the court. Even if you have the angle and 2-3 steps, they will still lock into your body several times down the floor)Comment

Re: How do i get past CPU?
Had some nice sequences during my OKC/GSW game....was such a great game all around...

Was able to get by a great defender in Green and Curry who is a bit of an overrated in this game, haha....
Really learning how to read the defense and attack now....

Re: How do i get past CPU?
If the ball handler is doing choppy stutter steps, it means you're driving too shallow (too much "into" the onball defender) or you're just too crowded. Make sure you have at least an arm's length of space before attacking and/or try taking a slightly wider angle on your drive.Comment

Re: How do i get past CPU?
My issue is that defenders sometimes warp into position when helping on double teams or when recovering from playing tight on ball defense. There are times when I clearly get the step on my defender only to have him warp back into position sucking me into an animation not allowing me to blow by him. It doesn't happen all the time but it does happen. I'm very skilled with the sticks so it's not that I don't know what I'm doing. I know that you have to time your moves, wait for the opening & use the turbo button at the right time.
I don't think they need to completely nerf on ball defense but I do think it can be a little excessive at times. I'm ok with elite defenders being able to lock you down (I actually love that they added this to the game), but I'm also seeing average defenders sticking to me like glue as well. I had a situation where I was using Kyrie & a center was sticking to me like glue. That is what needs to be tuned in my opinion. Other than that I'm loving the defense & the game feels really balanced this year.Last edited by JKSportsGamer1984; 09-28-2015, 11:01 PM.Comment

Re: How do i get past CPU?
Good stuff guys! One question, for those that are using Broadcast cam, are you guys using absolute or camera relative for pro stick? I've always used camera relative but with the recent issues, I feel I need to switch. What do you guys think? I can't seem to explode off of hesi or crossovers.
Glad to see I'm not the only one having the issue with dribbling and getting past defenders.Comment

Let's say they do nerf the sticking down and this ultimately causes the defense to weaken, allowing the offense to overpower the defense. If it's one or the other, would this be better for the game?
People always say they want the defense to be nerfed a little but when it does happen, we have a bigger mess on our hands (i.e. offense better than defense). Even though patch #4 was from what I've heard an offense specific fix (I didn't play 2k15), it ruined the game. If developers give in and 2k16 results in Patch #4 2.0, then what?
It's easy to drive the paint in the "other" game because the perimeter bump animation isn't as effectively as it is in 2k16, and what happens, yeah, scoring is ridiculously easy. That's what I suspect is going to happen if the developers truly give in. NBA2k11 was popular because there is that balance between offense and defense. It's a way to keep the game balance and more importantly challenging.
Offense will always find a way to overpower the defense regardless of how powerful the defense may seem initially. As gamers get better, the game gets weaker so to speak. Be careful what you really wish for because a current masterpiece could all come crumbling down.
I just beat the Memphis Grizzlies, a defensive oriented team, by about 30 points at their home court. If I am able to to score that many points over, what do you think is going to happen when the existing defense gets nerfed?Comment

Can I pose a legitimate question?

Re: How do i get past CPU?
If you were the developer, how would you "tune" the Kyrie vs center situation? My concern is if one part of the equation gets "tuned" "nerfed" or whatever, it affect the entire spectrum resulting in a weakened defense overall.

Re: How do i get past CPU?
It's quite easy.
First, don't use right stick for hesitation. It's completely broken and won't allow you to do a quick first step.
Flick the left stick if you want to hesitate left/right. That'll allow you to do a quick crossover into first step.
Hesitation as far as I've seen is only useful if you chain it into another animation, like behind the back.
I'll see if I can get some videos up regarding getting past CPU defense. I'm not having much trouble doing so.Comment
