How do you get open 3pt shooters to stay in the corner when they're open? Often I have guys like Carroll and Ross run out from the 3pt line into a crowded paint (guy is playing zone) so while I'm getting double teamed, no one is open.

Can someone tell me how to beat someone who is pressing you on man to man the second you cross halfcourt? I can't get by them and it's one of the most frustrating things I've ever encountered.Comment

Just pass the ball to a teammate and then ask for the ball back.Comment

Re: NBA 2K16 Teach Me How/Strategy Thread
Is anyone else having trouble this year with OR's and putbacks?
In 2k15 I could pretty easily gain control of the closest rebounder by pressing A (XB1, that would be X on PS4) right after the shot goes up.
This year it seems I don't get control of him or, if I do, I can't gain actual input control of him reliably to box out or grab a rebound.
Is anyone good at this in 2k16 and if so, how does it work for you?Comment

Re: NBA 2K16 Teach Me How/Strategy Thread
Stop
Hold L2 to hold ball away from opponent so he can't steal it.
Call for Pick and Roll
When big man is almost to you, pass it to him
Quickly hold Triangle (and your PG will immediately cut to rim!)
Pass to him, lay it up.
Profit.Comment

Re: NBA 2K16 Teach Me How/Strategy Thread
I keep finding myself coming to a stop after making a move instead of accelerating. Many times when I'm able to make a move and find an opening to get by the defender the player I'm controlling just stops instead of going forward even though I'm trying to move him forward. It's frustrating when I finally get by someone and have some open court in front of me only to stop and allow the defender to get back in front. Is this common? What should I be doing differently?Comment

Re: NBA 2K16 Teach Me How/Strategy Thread
Can someone explain from a basketball standpoint why in the world Tyreke Evans would cut into the paint in the situation below?
I see Tyreke waiting in the corner so I decide to make a pass to him if only to make the defense react and move a guy out....... but then he decides while I'm pressing x to instead cut to the center to where the DEFENSE IS. This happens to me at least once a game during transition moments.
Is there a basketball reason for this or am I making the wrong play here?Comment

It is obvious to us, to stay the hell where you are instead of doing a backcut, but the AI doesn't think like that.
When you have the ball and go one side to court, when having it on motion cuts or freelance action, your players will move.
Also you could have lead passing on, or the AI just decided to generate a TO there.
What you gotta do is put it on space the floor and the AI will stay exactly where it is.Comment

You probably have it on motion cuts or freelance. The AI isn't really situational, it does literally whatever you tell it to do.

Thanks. I wish there was more documentation on what exactly "Default", "Motion Cuts", and "Freelance" do. Kinda vague. I'll try it on space the floor and see how that goes. Also wth is lead passing anyways? I thought the direction you choose your analog stick to chooses WHO to pass it to, not where. Sometimes I wonder what the hell the AI is doing in this game. I'll be dribbling top of key with my PG and my PF is standing right next to him like a statue...... but not setting a screen, just standing there.Comment

He cuts to the basket because u ran toward him and he cut to the basket to rotate and space to floor better since u were running to his spotComment

But he started running to the paint after I had barely passed half court though.. and he's running into where another teammate (AD) is already atComment

it happens to me too. i saw MJ at the corner strong side and i'm ready to drive from the wing and pass it to him for 3. instead, he cuts towards the basket and i ended up with a turnover. frustrating.
however, it is not uncommon for nba players cutting into paint from corner 3. i just watched the highlights clips of andre roberson from okc. 80% of his field goals were layups or dunks, and he did some of that by cutting into the lane from corner 3.
back to gameplay, i suspect it could be the cause of player tendency. i dont have that problem with novak, singler and morrow. they stay there for spot up. tyreke evans is not known for spot up as far as i know.
