u could try adjusting the defensive settings to sag off or moderate non-shooting big eg. biyombo or non-shooter wing eg. tony allen. poe has got to be protect the paint. i use moderate in my game.

I've struggled with hop jumper for a long time. Remeber to just tap shoot button, like for a split of a second, and then give your player another split of a second to get into that hop step motion, and then again press shoot button and finish your shot.

when on fastbreak, hitting contact layup is possible. say u are running on the break without the ball, u receive the pass and the defender is closing on u, continue pointing the left stick towards the baseline (may not be towards the basket, depends where the defender is) and take one extra step before hitting the right stick for the layup. the finishing hand is impt. if the defender is coming at u from the left side, best to finish on the right side by holding the right stick to the right.
i have success doing this with derozan in mL.

Anyone know how to disable nicknames for CAPS? All of the CAPS I've made have names in the database yet they are called "The bulldozer", etc. HELP!
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

The rim completely closes itself off, it's crazy.

right on the point. the cpu help defense will sag once u blow by and success rate for straight layup is low. put in some mixes like floater, tear drop, hop step, spin should give some success. hop step layup can possibly draw contact and1. try not to air reverse ...

Re: NBA 2K16 Teach Me How/Strategy Thread

I don't own the game nor do I own a next gen system, so please go easy on me when I ask some dumb How-To questions regarding 2K16:

Early, my biggest problem has been defensive responsiveness. I don't play online and I'm not a spam stealer or anything (I try to play a good, realistic game against the computer on default setting). Yet, in comparison to my previously extensive 2K experience (most recently with 2K12 and 2K13 on last gen), I feel like my defensive players are stuck in mud.

-Guarding the ball up top, I feel like responding to the guard's first move takes so long to respond that I'm already out of position when he makes his second move.
-Initiating turbo seems to take longer than I'd imagine it would for a player to accelerate to top speed in real life.
-Pivoting or turning seems to round out very slowly and feature some weird plants at time.
-Switching to new defenders with each ball movement (so as to play on-ball at all times) seems to slow the response upon the moment I select the new guy.

^Some of these I know are just perceived and not legit. But does anyone have any advice for adjusting to the new momentum mechanics? Has anyone else thought they seemed a little sluggish?

I feel like I'm fighting the game the entire time I'm playing it. What do you guys do to play effective on-ball defense (or any other kind of defense for that matter)? I get blocks and stops at times but it feels scattered and like I have to battle my own movements to make things happen.

After you relocate a team in MyLeague, is there a way to reorganize the divisions/conferences? I feel so dumb, I just redid two teams, and I want to switch their divisions, but I'm afraid I can't. Am I going to have to start over and do it all over again?

Manual backdoor courts will destroy anyone who tries to play deny/tight defense or use the "limit perimeter shots" point of emphasis.

You'll want to call a play first that has appropriate spacing with the center far out from the basket and everyone else outside the three point line.

Quick CNR Give 23 (Pistons Playbook) is a good choice for that kind of spacing:

                          <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/D2_f2SZiqGc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Then if the defense switches to moderate/gap off-ball intensity, you'll still be able to beat them with the give to the point guard or the down screen for the small forward. Both of those actions force the defense to play over the screen or they'll surrender an open mid-range jumper.

Pause the game and go to "gameplan."

From there, you can set your directional shading at a global or individual level.

yes but i think this is for off-ball defense, i wonder how i can do that manually playing on ball D

I just started using flow motion too. Very deadly freelance if you have 2 bigs.
There are a lot of good flow plays in the game even if you aren't using the flow freelance.

Quick Flow Rip 2 (Pistons playbook) has a bunch of off-ball and on-ball screens being set for the point guard while he runs all around the perimeter, so it's great for fast point guards like Stephen Curry and Kyrie Irving who can hit a moving jump shot:

                                <iframe width="540" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/D66Q6AS2Tc0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

But if the defense starts to focus on your point guard too much, Quick Flow Rip 2 has plenty of secondary options that your other teammates can score from:

Option #1 -- Shooting guard runs a give & go with the power forward
Option #2 -- Small forward flares out to the corner for a three pointer
Option #3 -- Point guard shoots off the initial down screen
Option #4 -- Shooting guard takes a handoff from the point guard and drives to the basket
Option #5 -- Point guard catches & shoots coming off a flare screen from the power forward
Option #6 -- Point guard comes over the top of a second screen from the PF looking to shoot
Option #7 -- Point guard goes into a pick & roll/fade with the power forward if he can't shoot
Option #8 -- A double ball screen will come to the shooting guard if no passes are made
