Re: NBA 2K16 Teach Me How/Strategy Thread

What's the best PnR defensive setting tohave your big stay6 low and protect the key?

I've put the center's setting to no hedge and still seen him come out and help defend/soft hedge the ball handler while the ball handler's defender is going under the screen (as assigned) and the roll man can sign autographs for kids while waltzing to the rim for the easy bucket unmolested.

This is with high IQ centers, too.

Pre-rotate doesn't help consistently enough to overcome the abandonment of the guy setting the pick, especially when the other big on the low block is wide open under the rim for a pass or offensive rebound.

Is the only way to get this to work to take user control of the big on the pick?

2K needs to fully explain what every setting means. For instance what does "Pre-Rotate really mean? Does "yes" mean this is the guy I want to leave so I pre-rotate off of him....

Do you by chance have "ai coach adjustments" under coach settings on manual? I set it to manual today and even though I had the pnr set to ice for the center, he would come out everytime...pissed me off.

Actually if your looking to do a drop (that's what it's called). You have to put "No hedge"

The defensive/screen settings are still a mess and don't work well, you just have to deal with it, unfortunately.

I can understand the hard hedges working inconsistently because your bigs won't always be in position to actually make the hard hedge (it is a video game, after all) but there's no reason for bigs to come up high for any type of hedge when you tell them to stay back like Gasol in that video. It's quite frustrating.

Does anybody have recommended strategy to play proper ICE defense?

Hard Hedging actually works... But you need to know your big men. If you have big men with "good" lateral quickness mixed with good pick and roll defense IQ. Your big men will come out and slow down the ball handler.

                Great example...

I missed up here. When getting back on to the ball handler. But you can see the idea of making the ball handler go east-west instead of south-north. It works really well with teams like the 08 Heat. Battier at the 4. They are really hard to "trick"

But that's what I'm saying. I see the guy come out and continue to hedge even after I set to "no hedge."

How do you tell a player to cut?

Also, I remember in previous 2Ks.. while you have the ball, you could press a button & hold it to switch to an off-ball player, move that player and once you let go of the ball.. he'll throw the pass to him. Do they still have this?

                      Thanks in advance.

Trying it on auto may or may not help

if i'm in the high post in a triple threat stance, is there a way to put the ball on the floor without having to move? i've of course seen the cpu do it but i can't figure it out.

You didn't mess up. They just have done a poor job making ballscreen defense work naturally in this game. I don't know where the fault lies, be it computer limitations or poor technical advising, but the game out the box simply doesn't defend the way a NBA team would.

I'm going to experiment with sliders over the next few weeks to see if something there can improve it.

How do you make your screener "pop" instead of "roll"?

Also, is there any way to edit coaches outside of MyLeague mode?
