Re: NBA 2K16 Teach Me How/Strategy Thread
omg why isn't this documented anywhere or maybe i'm blind but I've been trying to figure out how to launch after doing a dribble move forever.. it seemed to happen randomly, sometimes i would get the launching speed boost animation and other times some ugly slow movement in whatever direction i was pointing without any launch boost. I just figured out you have to point left stick diagonally up and left or up and right when you try to launch/speed boost after a dribble move not exactly left or right.Last edited by Maligx; 03-02-2016, 03:41 AM.Comment

Re: NBA 2K16 Teach Me How/Strategy Thread
I started using the Oklahoma City Thunder playbook this week and the first play that caught my attention was Fist Hawk 41.
It has excellent spacing and contains scoring options for all five offensive players:
<iframe width="540" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/8SDMbIf4mFc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Option #1 -- Shooting guard cuts off the center's screen and runs to the basket
Option #2 -- Center runs a pick & roll with the point guard
Option #3 -- Small forward looks to catch & shoot off a pin down screen
Option #4 -- Small forward and power forward run a pick & roll if no shot is open
Option #5 -- Shooting guard comes up to the wing for a catch & shoot opportunity
Option #6 -- Shooting guard passes to the center posting up if he can't shoot
Option #7 -- Shooting guard cuts to the basket after making the post entry pass
I love plays like this that have a lot of motion and get the entire team involved, because your opponent can't hide out staying off-ball the entire possession or key in on any single offensive player.Comment

Re: NBA 2K16 Teach Me How/Strategy Thread
A lot of people love to use Russell Westbrook online, but hardly anyone takes advantage of his ability to bully weaker guards in the post with his 74 strength, 88 standing layup, 76 post fadeaway, and 94 draw foul ratings.
Fist 15 Motion starts with Westbrook in the low post and Enes Kanter in the high post on the opposite side of the floor. Then it sends the small forward and shooting guard cutting to the basket for easy dump off layups while the power forward stands back ready to catch and shoot from three or come over to set a ball screen:

Option #1 -- Power forward shoots a top of the key three if the defense sags off
Option #2 -- Small forward cuts to the basket after passing to the power forward
Option #3 -- Center has an isolation opportunity on the weak side of the formation.
Option #4 -- Shooting guard cuts to the basket after passing to the small forward
Option #5 -- Point guard has post up opportunity if shooting guard's cut isn't open
Option #6 -- Point guard will come to the top of the key off a screen if he doesn't get the ball in the post
Option #7 -- Point guard runs a dribble handoff with the shooting guard
Option #8 -- Point guard runs a pick and roll with the center
Option #9 -- Hit the center in the high post if the point guard isn't open coming off his screenComment

Re: NBA 2K16 Teach Me How/Strategy Thread
I'd love to have some insights on defensive settings.
For the screens settings what I use to do is 'go under' + 'soft hedge' for basically all pg, sg and sf. When I'm guarding an all star like harden, curry and so I use the hard hedge.
For big man I tend to go 3/4 bottom for all (no logic at all, just saw a yt tutorial that recommends it, so...)
Also I do the switch rule for all of the guards.
Most of this sets are just copying some stuff from youtube tutorials, but I never know why I'm doing them.Comment

Re: NBA 2K16 Teach Me How/Strategy Thread
I'm having an issue with leading cutting players away from the direction of the cut. For example, i'm setting up on the wing with my pg and my sg is coming off a screen to the top of the key. While he's making the cut my passing icon has my post player highlighted. When i move the left stick to highlight the cutting player and pass it to him it leads him back towards half court. I can't seem to pass it to this player without this happening. Am i don't something wrong? Is icon passing the only remedy to this issue?Tar Heels | Panthers | HornetsComment

Re: NBA 2K16 Teach Me How/Strategy Thread
Nice, I'll look through some of the playbooks tonight, and see what I can find.
It's a real staple, isn't it? You could even make that a cornerstone of a 3-on-3 team. Gonna start messing with that with my boys.

Re: NBA 2K16 Teach Me How/Strategy Thread
I sub my starters out when they reach 85 and re-insert them back in when they get to 95+. This also depends on who my starter and his backup is. For example I have Iggy as my starting SG and my backup is Nick Young so I play them equally most games but with Kobe and MWP I play Kobe 30-35 minutes depending on matchup and score and MWP for 10 minutes while Iggy takes the rest of the minutes.Comment
