When you start a myLeague you will be prompted to load a custom draft class or start with random 2k generated players. You can download a realistic one there. I'm not 100% with myGm but I think you have to wait until your second season to load a custom draft class, which makes me want to never think aboug touching that mode.

Re: Official NBA 2k18 MyLeague/MyGm Thread
Has anyone else run into this issue in MyLeague? I’m in year two with the Suns and have a lot of young guys on the end of my bench. Problem is it won’t let me use whatever player is in the 13th roster spot when I go to Coach game plan. If I give anyone in the 13th spot more than 0 minutes on the rotation it tells me that I need to fix my rotations (like it would if I didn’t have all my minutes distributed or someone had an unplayable injury). No one on my roster is injured and I can’t seem to find a way around it. I’m only able to bring 12 guys into a game which kind of sucks when there’s a blowout and I’d like to get my young guys some minutes. If anyone has an idea of how to fix this let me know. Will also be posting over in bugs & glitches, just wanted to see if any fellow MyLeaguers have experienced this.

Originally posted by FadeawayJayMy imagination is currently failing me, so I can't really seem to get behind a decent MyLeague save. I've already done the 76'ers, building a dynasty around Simmons and Embiid, and the Nets, building a perennial contender around Russell's scoring and team basketball. However, I'm out of ideas for exciting saves to start and stick to now, so I need some inspiration. What's been your favourite franchise in 2K18 so far to try and rebuild/retool, and why?
For instance, after the first season and the Warriors won their 3rd title I traded Klay Thompson to the Bulls for Mirotic and the Bulls pick which ended up being top 3. It's not exactly realistic but I gave KD a max extension and Klay was on his last year and there was no way he was taking a discount. Plus he was looking for a new challenge. After the trade I maxed Klay out. It's been a blast playing with him and Lavine. They're not ready yet but the Bulls are on the come up... I also used VAWereWolfs draft class, he has a High School stud who reminds me of a young KG that went to the Kings 1st. I have my eye on them as well. Dude is a "small ball" 4 and 5 killer. You better get some old school bigs with size out there for him. All of this stuff is in addition to stuff I did before the first season kicked off like trading Boogie to the Wizards reuniting him with Wall. And having the Spurs grooming Okafor. It's little things that add life to the league while also keeping it realistic and fun. Try something like that.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2k18 MyLeague/MyGm Thread
I've been running a Utah Jazz MyGM mode. Really like Quinn Snyder's system, when I play, the players really do seem to play smothering defense.
I actually went with a soft rebuild. We moved Rodney Hood to SF and put Donovan Mitchell in as the SG (and long term #1 option). Joe Ingles is a capable 6th man.
But the big move that we made in year 1 is dumping Gobert. He simply is too one dimensional to make us as much money as he does (on a long term deal) to play with me.
So we traded Gobert for Tristan Thompson, Jae Crowder, and JR Smith AND the Brooklyn Pick. Getting the Brooklyn pick was key for me because the Jazz didn't have a first rounder. Cleveland ended up taking the core of LeBron, IT, Love, and Gobert all the way to the finals, but they couldn't beat the Warriors.
Brooklyn's pick ended up being #7. We traded the #7 pick + Ricky Rubio for the #3 pick. I was going for Freddie Staples, but we settled for Mirko Petrovic. Mirko looks to be a real cornerstone for this franchise and I look forward to using him.
Our new line-up is:
Point Guard: George Hill
Shooting Guard: Donovan Mitchell
Small Forward: Rodney Hood
Power Forward: Bobby Portis (who broke out last year)
Center: Mirko Petrovic
6: Joe Ingles
7: Derrick Favors
8: Tony Bradley
9: Terry Rozier (who we obtained through the forced trade, Deron Williams for Rozier 1:1)
10: Jae Crowder
11: Aaron Afflalo
12: A rookie SF that I converted to a stretch 4
Reserves: Joe Johnson, Tony Allen, and Tristan Thompson, (I have no use for a 6'9 Center who can't shoot, we'll be looking to dump him with one of our future first round picks)
Note: I refused to play JR during the regular season and we were able to dump him for a 2nd round pick on draft night.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2k18 MyLeague/MyGm Thread
This is why I like to do a kind of "God mode" where I just oversee the league. Eventually, I'm gonna build a team up. I just manually control everything for the team i am the GM of. But then I jump off to another. I make trades and stuff to things interesting.

Btw. I love that you paired Okafor with Pop and the Spurs. If there's one place in the modern NBA, where his skills could still be utilised properly, it's with Pop. He'd be really interesting as a replacement for Pau IMO.Last edited by FadeawayJay; 12-04-2017, 05:00 PM.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2k18 MyLeague/MyGm Thread
I love the idea of this, and I tried on 2K17, which was really fun! Remember I was trying to make the Lakers, the Celtics, the 76ers, The Nuggets and the Knicks into simultaneous dynasties, to duke it out between them. Never really finished the "projects" as I got too caught up in it, wanting to do everything for all teams, and thus making off-season decisions too big of a task. How do you go about it? How much do you control etc?
Btw. I love that you paired Okafor with Pop and the Spurs. If there's one place in the modern NBA, where his skills could still be utilised properly, it's with Pop. He'd be really interesting as a replacement for Pau IMO.
During the first season and offseason I make sure that all of the star players stay with their teams and I keep the real coaches. I also progress some assistants like Sam Cassel to head coach (Suns) and assign players like Paul Pierce as an assistant coach with the Celtics. I manually make sure that the stars like LBJ and KD stay with their teams. Otherwise I let things play out.
I try to make realistic, yet interesting moves. I love Boogie and Wall being united and having another good to great team in the East. I traded Otto Porter and a first for him as Boogie was going to become a FA. Like you said, Okafor with Pop is interesting.
In the playoffs year 1 I played a random second round matchup between the Hornets and Cavs. Dwight and Kemba were beasts but Marvin freaking Williams ended up being the difference and we managed to beat the Cavs in 7. I loved the redemption of Dwight storyline; then we got beat by the Bucks in the ECF. The Bucks got swpt by the Warriors in the finals.
That offseason I broke up the Warriors as there's only so much money to go around. Steph making 40, KD making 35, Dray at 18, Iggy at 12. It was time. Klay and Lavine in Chicago has been fun. They have been my year 2 team. They ekked into the playoffs as a 7 seed and got swept. Chicago will have about 45mil in cap space this offseason though and Marc Gasol and George Hill are gonna be my targets. If I get them then Chicago is gonna be in the mix in the east.
The Hornets and Cavs meet again in the 2nd round, Cavs stomped me. I had traded TT in the offseason in a 3 team deal that sent him to Miami, Lopez to Cleveland and the Nets pick to the Lakers. No marquee FA were going to LA and PG resigned with the Thunder. Lopez's ability to hit the 3 pulled Dwight from the rim and LeBron feasted. The Cavs ran up on a game Washington squad and won in 6. Boogie and Wall are here though and the East is on notice. I'm bout to tipoff game one of the NBA finals between the Cavs and Thunder (who beat GS in 7) in the finals. It's been fun. The offseason is gonna be interesting too as Jimmy Butler is hitting the open market.Comment

Re: Official NBA 2k18 MyLeague/MyGm Thread
This will be my third or fourth MyLeague.. I haven’t made it past January 2018 yet in any of them lol! This time I chose one team from each division to craft and piggy back off of to build on. Here are my ideas in MyNBA, did the start from today feature, all records are from the real NBa at this point. Feedback welcomed.
76ers: (13-10) I picked this squad as my “young gun feel good story” my goal here is to win ROY with Ben Simmons, get to the playoffs with Brett Brown and turn them into a competitor in the weak eastern conference. Strongly considering parting ways with Okafor. Young and unproven. We need scoring more than anything. We could use a guy like Avery Bradley or even Marcus Smart to come in at the SG and still provide good D and some consistent points. Or we go with one of my favorite players and add to the youth already on roster, Kyle Kuzma! He can light it up off the bench and give them that star power feeling in Philly!
Bucks: (12-11) This is who I’m seeing as the team that can make noise in the East and knock off Cleveland and Boston, Cinderella style. For this team we need another big body in the post to hunker us down. I’m thinking bringing in a vet like Tyson Chandler, who’s big bulky and still long to go with the length already on the floor. Milwaukee is a small town so it has to be a right fit, a kind of humble type player that still can ball. I also see a combo guard off the bench could be of use.. but who??
*UPDATE* SG Kris Middleton just ruptured his achilles, out for 6 months. I have a feeling I can get a guy like Ben McLemore via trade or David Nwaba from Chicago, both have expiring contracts so they be rentals until Middleton returns, if at all.
Miami Heatles: (12-12) We are in a bit of a pickle to be honest.. our core is so vital to the team as it is and we don’t have really any draft assets to leverage either. As frustrating as it is to be a Heat fan with this roster, I don’t see much besides a playoff spot and hopefully a shocker in the postseason. I’ve personally been a fan of the grit and grind culture we have, so I want to continue that and maybe bring in a backcourt player like Pat Beverly or Marcus Smart, but Smart is on our rival and two, we don’t have any assets that we can let go to experiment with this. Willy Caulie-Stein also has been floating around to pair with Whiteside because he’s got that edge to him and is lengthy enough to protect the rim off the bench. But then again, that’s what Bam is for.. Might have to ride this one out..
Kings: (7-17) This is my project team, not really playing too many games with them, they are not ready for these sliders out here lol. A lot of youth, only four players over 30. Im debating a trade with the Clippers, Malachi Richardson and Zach Randolph for Austin Rivers and Montrezl Harrell. But Austin Rivers is in a contract year with a player option and he’s leaning towards free agency. Since we aren’t in win now mode may pass on him and ride this season out.
Rockets: (18-4) This is my team I’m taking to knock off The Warriors this postseason. Harden and CP3 were on fire my first two times playing with them. Chris Paul is expected to be opting in with his contract, I’m looking to add a SF/PF maybe this offseason, but this core is in tact, main goal is to beat the Warriors!!
Trail Blazers: (13-11) Portland is one piece away from being a powerhouse. With Lillard and CJ in the backcourt, the front court could use some overhaul. Jokic is cool but he’s not the right fit for Portland. This team needs a blockbuster deal. Tobias Harris comes to mind, along with Anthony Davis or Boogie Cousins who is testing free agency. Also Paul George is opting out, he could be a great fit for us. Playoffs or bust here.
Add on any suggestions or comments. I’ll update this every now n then. I’m on everyday!

Re: Official NBA 2k18 MyLeague/MyGm Thread
With all of patches released so far, are there still issues with how teams manage their players during the off-season in MyLeague? I haven't been following the development of this years game, I know there were a lot of bugs when the game first came out.
Do teams still let go of their young controllable restricted free-agents? Are generated draft classes more balanced?Comment

Re: Official NBA 2k18 MyLeague/MyGm Thread
Those who have successfully relocated to Seattle in MyGM, what path towards the end of the season did you take in terms of the former owner, press conferences etc? Because in my first go through earlier this year, I sided with the new owner and his son in about every situation, but the previous owner still bought the team and the move never happened.
I've seen youtube vids of people who relocated, even when they didn't try. I've seen ones where Bob Sanderson doesn't end up selling the team. How can I accomplish this? I WANT to move to Seattle.Comment
