Personally, as someone who only plays a minimal amount online my feeling is this:
Grinding(within reason) doesn't bother me; if fact I would say the reason I play is actually FOR the process of starting from nothing and becoming the best.
That being said, it's still a game, and thus essentially a hobby for me.I'm a grown man with responsibilities so I don't have tons of free time....being expected to quite literally invest 100+ hours into just building up one character is simply too much of a demand on my free time.To be fair, I don't want to be done in 10 hours either, just something a bit more reasonable than what feels like a second full time job.
Now to clarify, I try to play very realistically...solid fundamental basketball within the role I chose for myself; I don't need some insane 50-20-10 game every night, if I get a double double (Pts and Reb) and play solid defense I am happy.
I guess you could say my frustration is also that it feels like I am playing what would be a pretty solid game IRL, but the game punishes me(in the sense of rewards) because I'm not being a lousy team mate and going for highlight plays every possession.
