Personally, as someone who only plays a minimal amount online my feeling is this:

Grinding(within reason) doesn't bother me; if fact I would say the reason I play is actually FOR the process of starting from nothing and becoming the best.

That being said, it's still a game, and thus essentially a hobby for me.I'm a grown man with responsibilities so I don't have tons of free time....being expected to quite literally invest 100+ hours into just building up one character is simply too much of a demand on my free time.To be fair, I don't want to be done in 10 hours either, just something a bit more reasonable than what feels like a second full time job.

Now to clarify, I try to play very realistically...solid fundamental basketball within the role I chose for myself; I don't need some insane 50-20-10 game every night, if I get a double double (Pts and Reb) and play solid defense I am happy.

I guess you could say my frustration is also that it feels like I am playing what would be a pretty solid game IRL, but the game punishes me(in the sense of rewards) because I'm not being a lousy team mate and going for highlight plays every possession.

I must be in the minority, I only play my career and don't buy VC. Currently 70 overall but I'm having a blast with this years game.

Again Czar has made some great strides on how the CPU reacts on plays. Some of you guys are straight up trolling. Hell red flags should be "I've been playing since nba2kxx" we all know that's bull****. No true fan ever says that because a true fan knows exactly what they are getting. Talk about agenda posting.

So you look past that close to half the players in this game need updates with guys looking like they did 3years ago? Courts looking like flat matte textures with wrong court colours and zero reflections? Accessories completely out of date and not accurate? Players moving around the court as though they are dancing on ice? VC riddled throughout the game incentivising people to keep spending, spending, spending!

Nah but a “true fan” doesn’t complain about these issues, a “true fan” only praises 2k so you get the exact same issues year in year out

No I've complained all those things. Most can vouch that I've even started threads about those. Again you're crying about scooters but completely ignore the gameplay part. So yeah a lot of true fans have complained. But of course you wont see it since you're just riding on the coattails of what's being complained the most.

No ones forcing me or anybody else to buy VC. So that's a none issue for me. Again I'm a fan of the gameplay and all the works of the core devs.

Good luck with your agenda posting.

Re: How did 2K fall so far from grace? Fan reviews are in

To me it's a sign of the times. I'm assuming a vast majority of the negative reviews are VC related? If people reviewed the game fairly based on gameplay, amount of content, quality and depth of modes, etc I don't know how anyone could rate the game any lower than maybe a 7. I normally don't play modes where VC is prevalent so it is a non-issue for me, and I can understand being disappointed by the game if VC is ruining one of your favorite modes, but I find the fan reviews extremely misleading. I see a score like that and think the game is nearly unplayable, and 2k19 is far from unplayable. Gameplay wise it might be the best basketball game ever.

I usually take user review with a grain of salt. A lot of games will get terrible user scores that really arent indicative of the overall quality of the game.

Some of you guys are out of touch. There are definitely people complaining about dumb things, like every single other thing that exists, but there are plenty of legit complaints (VC). Again, I see that people like Czar have put in work, but I can't enjoy any improvements in the mode I play (ProAM) until I no life like a mad man or get stuck with a crap build that I made and then gotta grind again. It's not consumer friendly and idk why some of you are coming at that angle. Not to mention the patch they rushed out to stop the VC "exploit" that broke 5 other things lmao. The gameplay is good but I wish I could just play the mode I want and try different builds like I can in FIFA. I'm all for making that combine mode a game mode I'd be all over that.

I don't think anyone is saying ignore the issues. The game isn't perfect and there are of course areas that need improvement, but at the same time let's not act like 2K put in zero effort this year or somehow put out a worse game than the year before. They didn't address every flaw but anyone that has played 2K before can see improvement in just about every facet of the game.

In comparison to other annual sports titles I think 2K does about as much as any other company and in terms of overall quality and content I'd put it up against most videogames, not just sports games. You can say I'm giving 2k a pass or going to easy on them, maybe I'm just a "2k fanboy", but it's hard for me to focus in on the flaws when I look at the overall product. It would be like complaining about the flaws of a team that is a championship contender instead of enjoying and appreciating what they are achieving.

Agree with everything said here but as I said in my earlier post (totally unrelated to whatever VC rant people are on); there are core issues that are still in effect that hinder any improvements and add-ons. Issues that have been present for YEARS. Particularly on defense and on the fast break on offense and in the proper editing of players.

It is great to be given the tools to "edit as we like" but #1 some things can't be fixed until THEY re-code or reimplement the logic. And #2, other issues just shouldn't be left untouched year after year for us to fix on our own through editing. I don't even have the game but I DARE SOMEONE TO TELL ME NORMAN POWELL'S DUNK RATING AND TENDENCY ISN'T 50 OR LOWER... don't worry I'll wait. That kinda **** been the case for years.

I can't think of ANYTHING else that I've purchased in my life (including Ikea) where the concept was: "pay us for a product that we added some bells and whistles to, but still haven't fixed core issues with for over 3 years. Also... we just didn't finish it/or even bother to change "xyz" from the last release, but here... we gave you the tools to do it yourself... Now check please..."

The funny thing is that most of us are dying for a street game... 2k would make even more bank if they tapped into the street baller market with the Neighborhood being it's own stand alone game (NBA playgrounds doesn't count)... They could totally satisfy the park players and us sim guys... Because them sitting on the fence trying to please EVERYONE isn't working at all... On one hand I feel for the devs that get slandered and called for the balancing issues... But on the otherhand why isn't 2k making the neighborhood it's OWN game?

I don't get how you're sticking with 18 when 19 is undeniably better in every way that 18 has band aids in many of the areas that have been improved.

As far as fast breaks and stuff, those things have to be built, its not some auto development, and in fact some things were added to 19. Im not saying i has arrived, but i dont see how you could play 18 and look at 19 and say nah I pass.

Depends on what those things are that you speak of because that's vague. Some things are multi year developments before you see big change... tendencies, I don't think they have anyone to spend the time on it to be honest. I don't think that it is left out to dry on purpose but it comes up low on the totem pole when they have other things to fix, add and implement, test and patch before release in 8 months.

I can't think of ANYTHING else that I've purchased in my life (including Ikea) where the concept was: "pay us for a product that we added some bells and whistles to, but still haven't fixed core issues with for over 3 years. I just disagree that 19 is just bells and whistles.... again, you're sitting there playing last years version of the game that was good but terribly flawed in its own right... just an odd year to be a protester for fixes.

I think the problem in myplayer is that OTHERS immediately buying VC and shooting their player up causes some to be discouraged. Two days in you walk around the neighborhood with your 62 OVR and see all these 85s. it makes you reluctant to go play a game.

The grind would be fine if you felt others were engaging in the same thing. But it's buy VC or don't compete online.

As far as the game I've only played mycareer so far (which is weird for me, I'm usually a myleague offline only guy) and my only complaint is the sliding. AI seems way better on D and offense this year. I'm pleased with gameplay so far.

Agreed, and also alot of players have this elitist attitude of "I'll only play with people of at least this high OVR and this high win percentage" to the point of basically actively avoiding and ostracizing anyone in the community who doesn't meet their semi-arbitrary standards just so they can protect some meaningless stats. This is not even considering the multitude of other problematic players that crop up (won't ever pass guy, permanently afk guy, constantly yelling at his team guy, etc.)

As far as we've come in some aspects, in other aspects it's still alot like lunch time in a Junior High School cafeteria.

It's not falling from grace just slowly declining. They are covering it w new stuff but eventually they will have to rebuild or update their whole engine. They seem to be putting that off as long as possible, or they have some secret team working on it.

2k is 2k. It's gonna be good enough for most people no matter what they put out. When is the last time they made a truly bad game?

What you just said makes no sense at all

They just sold the most copies of any basketball game to date and just released their best game to date on their 20th anniversary edition.

They started over for 2K14 just like everybody else did and you saw like the rest of the world in awe what a new but stripped down 2K looked like.

Some of y'all internet dudes are weird how you'll go again what's in front of your eyes to make wild claims with nothing to back it up.
