Some people just need to admit that they f*cking suck at the game without the shot meter and stop making excuses as to why it should be in the game. Notice that people who always argue for green releases are same people who ignore real life stats, and ALWAYS have some comment about Player X doing such and such in practice like basketball games are played by one player in a practice gym then that respective team submits their "score" to the NBA to see if they won their matchup.

Agreed. Someone ask Mike what those new badges are. All 80 of em and I want a full page report on each badge. That's should keep us busy for a day or two before we get back to discussing green releases.Comment

Yeah, thread needs a rehaul and be managed similar to the Madden Dev Tweet thread...more tweets less back and forth...
If they start picking up again we'll create a new one...Comment

Re: Mike Wang tweets about 2K20
makes a ton of sense.
part of the reason some people in real life can shoot better than others is based on their shooting form. that doesnt mean an ulgy lonzo ballish form can't hit. it just means the margin for error is super tight.
Most bigs do not have smooth strokes. thats just the reality of it. Which makes their jumpers brick more than some of the little guys.
Basically their jumper animations should be a bit more difficult to time. its like a nasty shaq freethrow. not to that extreme but thats the angle they are going with.Comment

Re: Mike Wang tweets about 2K20
If we made a shooting robot. we can find thru ray allen, steph and klay, the "perfect release for those guys forms. when the shot goes SPLASH right down the center of the rim(you can have cameras make sure of this). with the proper arc, velocity, etc.
take that information, plug that into the shooting robot. and loop it.
The robot will not miss until something in the realm of physics changes(air in the arena/gym, something is wrong with the robots arm, or their's a malfunction with the robot or the software that the robot uses. but all things being equal that robot wont ever miss. why? because there is a perfect GREEN release point, velocity, etc on every jumper taken from every player in the world.
It has nothing to do with the person KNOWING if the shot is perfect or not. its the fact that it does exist in real life. the perfect release for every individuals form and jumper style. the difference between forms is that some forms have a smaller room for error(lonzo ball, reggie miller, Kevin martin, the matrix, etc.) and some people work on their shot more than others which makes them closer to robot results when left wide open. its called muscle memory for a reason. your muscles remember like the Ram/Hard disc in a robot.
A green perfect release is possible. which means 2k should put that in the game. now are we saying we shouldnt see the green to know when it happens? maybe. but on the otherside there are times when you KNOW your shot is wet money. and there times when you think it is and you brick(nick young meme).Comment

Re: Mike Wang tweets about 2K20
no its crazy man. ive seen pure glass cleaners and pure rim protectors in the 80s hitting consistently. they just put their fav jumpshot and they have the timing perfected. or theyre using modded controllers. most of the time its a guy that has a 95 and this is his rebirth and its an 89 with the same jumper equipped. or maybe they went on youtube, idk..but its super common and ive played a few thousand park games, rec games, and pro am games to have seen it consistently.
greens need to be locked out outside of the paint for non shooting builds. and thats just for open shots. if in the paint and its contested in any way (at least yellow) green should be locked out there as well. this can be accomplished by making 75 the cutoff for green releases. anything under a 75 cant be greened, period point blank with any build. that number represents what the shot rating is after any defense has been factored in along with release timing, etc.
there is no non shooting build (slasher, glass, rim, play) that has over 75 3s even wide open (except shorter pure playmakers, which is fine) with the shortest arm length, so that covers that. not to mention thats before the defense is factored in.
they make it enough that its a viable option when it should be a liability for them taking that shot. i see them draining them in close games too (why do all builds have the clutch badge?)

basically 2k is going to have to get away from the simple hit the button or hit the analog stick up and thats it. we're going to have to balance our players in the air and/or when coming off of screens to pull up.Comment

Re: Mike Wang tweets about 2K20
I don’t want unnatural boost either, but if that boost to shooting from not using the shot meter does help to take it away, I’m all for it.
Later, if they can get rid of the shot meter, they can take away the boost.

Open looks just fall at too high of a clip. i think this community believes every shot has to be open thats not basketball..what looks smothered to yall is most likely just a light contest to an nba player.Comment

It has to be. I can’t go back and forth with people that think greens and guaranteed makes exist in real life. Then say that because you can program a robot to never miss...
Thats the end of the conversation for me.
I mean 2k could program the game so that we never miss, I’m sure we’ll hear some arguments for why that should happen. [emoji23]
Come on Mike, tweet something.

Ask and he delivers
Tier 3 1st steps unlock with 86 Speed w/Ball. Momentum cross and tier 3 dribbling moves are still based on Ball Control and also unlock at 86. Keep in mind that ratings fluctuate based on Takeover (rhythm) and fatigue so you may want a buffer if speedboosting is important to you.Comment
