Did he mean the new punishment for take fouls is in the game (free throw and possession)? Or just the ability to perform take fouls? Or maybe both?

With the new rules hopefully curtailing take fouls in real life, this could be a mechanism that'd be outdated before it's even added.

One them, Czar spoke on and hopefully we'll see some big changes and a more enjoyable experience.

I haven't listened all of the way through... any word on loose ball recovery after a block, rebound, etc? Where the offensive player, in a jumble of defensive players, somehow mysteriously ends up with the ball for an easy putback or foul call? Played 3 minutes yesterday of 2k22 and it happened twice. One was egregious, lol.
    Quite relatable.

Regarding loose balls, I don't think they were touched on in the video, as he primarily stuck to the topic of body-ups.

Really interested to see how all of this plays out …Sounds like some real core changes to the way the game has played historically.

      2KU will be a must.

I get the need to find ways to counteract online spammers but this cascade of boosting and counterboosting has me concerned about the gamefication of 2K as opposed to its reliance on sensible, realistic physics-based principles.

It's a quandary, no doubt, because head-to-head gamers play by different rules and have different needs. But I'm not sure I need boosting and adrenaline and active ratings depletion to arbitrarily occur by simply pressing the steal button while playing against the computer.

I think I'd prefer a continued push to make motions and countermotions more physically accurate rather than just arbitrarily capping their use.

People who recklessly jump non-shot blockers toward shooters should be called for fouls on contact and in lieu of no contact, should have realistic trouble recovering on the play (in 2K22 I distinctly recall the pumpfake having virtually no effect on my ability to elude a CPU defender, even if they bit on the fake, due to their speedy recovery skills).

People who spam the steal stick with a poor defender should probably be left a bit flat footed if they initiate that steal from a vulnerable position. Or reach in fouls for steal attempts from bad angles should suffice. Or offensive ball handling animations to shut down weak steal attempts (a subtle arm bar, protective dribble, low dribble, etc.).

Really just makes me wish there was an offline programming setup and an online programming setup.

The entire time I was listening, and it was a great listen for sure, I was wondering if the devs would ever consider implementing a slider for exactly what Czar was talking about. "Body-Up Window Angle" or something like that.

Hopefully that is a sign that they have fixed fast breaks/breakaways in 2K23, instead of 7ft slow centers able to catch up to 6'1 fast point guards.

Why is the jump back dribble in the game? Has anyone ever seen a person who is stationary jump directly backwards 5 feet while dribbling?

Wouldn't it just make more sense to make that a walking back size up?

The body size ups and shading seem great. But if defensive rotations aren't fixed and the drive and kick game still sucks it won’t matter at all. I am cautiously optimistic this will be fixed. Hopefully we can see some real gameplay videos soon. Cpu help Defense has to be a top priority.

That takes a hell amount of coordination and balance in real life btw very very hard to pull, doing it onwards is also a drill in practices while dribbling and jumping as like jumping jacks i've been doing back then but not backwards, yet either way it's not really subtle to make use anywat, it's a gameplay mechanic seperation i guess to probably counter act suction D etc.

                    I couldn't agree more.

NBA 2K23 Gameplay Details and Improvements Revealed

When you think about it, This is a call back to older 2K’s where you lost chunks of stamina on defense for things like steal attempts…This was before any MyPlayer was even born.

I’m personally all for these ideas. It’s the opposite of all the Ctrl + V talk pre CR

It has the potential to change the online meta and make these dudes slow down and play some basketball.

It also has the potential to change the way we approach playing the CPU.

My hope is that everything goes as planned…..and that everything stays as planned. Only time will tell.

If we do get Adrenaline on defense, I'm really hoping they implement something to separate guys with a high motor from the average player. Being able to cover ground like a madman with Draymond or Giannis should definitely be a thing IMO.

I hope they have an "old fogey" controller setting too. Reading Mikes tweets on the control's, I'm getting scared that unless I play on 0 gamespeed, I may not be able to keep up lol

                            The step back escape?

It’s pretty much a staple for the craftier dribblers now

I know guys like Trey/Steph do moreso of a hop when they do theirs.

We are usually on the same page with the dribble stick/ moves so maybe I’m misunderstanding the move you’re talking about.

but if so I even think it’s aligned on the controller well…left, right, back + turbo are all escapes.

2K literally said the same thing last year. People celebrated how spamming steal now drained more energy and they said they penalized those spammers. Then it all changed with patches or perhaps never really was effective to begin with. They’re advertising the exact same thing now except the adrenaline gimmick is perhaps their solution to give it a way to “stick.” I have little doubt it’ll get patched or nerfed.

This is everything right here, as we all know the sticky onball D is 2k's bandaid in 5v5 for not having advanced, modern, NBA help D. So with onball loosening up and feeling more realistic, it's imperative that the Help D has significantly improved, otherwise the first couple patches will place the bandaid back on.
Not just the big reacting earlier, but the tag man and then the weakside dropping and scrambling on the kick out. We know that in 2k22 guys being able to "dot" a corner 3 and abuse the help on command lead to it being taken out and re implemented in a minimal way, so hopefully an answer is improved physics of longer passes as well.

I know the blog briefly mentioned improved rotations, so I'm anxious to see what this looks like. Hopefully an individual's Help IQ rating matters as well.
