Re: 2K19: Return of The Sim Roster
He's a 50 Shot IQ in the roster. He takes a lot of spot up jump shots, but isn't rushing into open looks. He also doesn't take many shots off the dribble.
The difference between him and the players at 25 (Giannis/Simmons) is that he still takes spot up 3's at a higher rate. Giannis takes more off the dribble jumpers facing gap coverage than he does catch-and-shoot looks.
If he keeps turning down open spot ups, then I'd drop him to 25. Draymond and Roberson were two of the toughest players to decide on because they get so many open looks from defenses focusing on their elite teammates.Last edited by youALREADYknow; 12-27-2018, 01:36 PM.Comment

Re: 2K19: Return of The Sim Roster
It's probably a good time to describe what some of the shooting attributes control in the game engine.
Mid/3PT Open: Open stand-still jump shot percentage.
Mid/3PT Contested: Contested stand-still jump shot percentage.
Mid/3PT Move: Pull-up and special move (spin, stepback, sidestep, etc.) jump shot percentage.
Shot IQ: How quickly a player recognizes they have an open shot after catching a pass and transitions from the catch animation to a shooting animation.
These definitions all come from 2K game devs in gameplay blogs or posts on these forums (Mike Wang, Mike Stauffer, Czar).
You will see preset Shot IQ attributes based on the type of shots that a player typically seeks to score off. Here's how the scale breaks down:
25 for players that don't seek to catch-and-shoot
50 for players that seek to score off the dribble and rarely catch-and-shoot (most primary ball handlers)
60 for stretch bigs and wings that get spot up looks
75 for good/great spot up shooters and catch-and-shoot specialists
90 for elite spot up shooters with quick releases
95 for the best off-ball shooters in history
Open/Contested/Move ratings are based on the last 3 years of shot data. Manual common sense adjustments are made for players with a low shot count, especially rookies and bench players.
How does this Shot IQ adjustment impact bigs in the post? I don’t see why they should have lower shot IQs as they should be seeking easy layups/hooks (the best shot in the game).
Also this will impact system proficiency ratings as well, so everyone who cares should be aware of that.Comment

The Shot IQ attribute is specifically for catch and shoot scenarios based on my testing and previous forum posts by 2K devs.Comment

Looking forward to this roster... From what I've tested it seems perfect... I'm gonna try it with the shot iq edits tonight... That seems intriguing to meComment

Re: 2K19: Return of The Sim Roster
It doesn't seem to control anything in the post. Post tendencies and attributes control what a player does when they get the ball in post up scenarios. It also doesn't impact shooting when driving to the basket (i.e. fastbreaks).
