Shot Tendency is a desire to shoot based on location or situation. Shot IQ is how quickly the player recognizes an open look in that situation to begin the jumpshot animation. Shot release speed is how long the animation takes to complete.

They are different. Watch the CPU with Shot IQ at 25/50/99 and see how their feet set before jumpers at 25/50 vs shooting as soon as the ball enters the catch animation at 99.

No, I won’t be testing for sim engine as it relates to Shot IQ. This roster will be sim gameplay focused first and foremost. There’s no distinct slider for Shot IQ which means the edits have to be made in the roster to get the desired gameplay.

Real world data has been used for most rate-based attributes in the roster so I’d expect the sim engine to be reasonably accurate in MyLeague. If anything is significantly off when MyLeague testing begins then I’m open to changes.

Also FYI to all... I’m considering taking a long break after the v1.0 release before getting into MyLeague edits. Editing without REditor is a nightmare and it is taking too much of my time. My focus for this project has always been the data and formulas, but 90% of my time lately has been sitting with a controller in my hands inputting numbers with the right stick. It’s almost time for a break, but let’s get to v1.0 first.

My advice would be to release version 1 and then enjoy the game as it is, you can not always keep changing numbers, I personally thank you from now for version 1 because I only tried one game and I was very surprised by how the gameplay joins with respect to the default

I haven't really looked at this whether this effects dunks lay ups. It;d be nice to create bigs that are slow to get their feet set on jumpers but go straight up for dunks.

What's the difference in the versions of your rosters and are either ready for play now cpu vs cpu games?

I haven’t seen any impact to dunks. Giannis is dunking consistently on touches at the rim with Shot IQ at 25.

v0.3 is the most recent version and the work-in-progress roster. v0.1/v0.2 were only for play testing while testing attributes/tendencies/coaching settings and shouldn’t be used for anything at this point.

The v0.3 roster is ready for Play Now CPU/CPU with the 76ers, Bucks, Jazz, Nuggets, Rockets, and Warriors. I’d recommend using the sliders posted with shooting lowered to 47 for all shot locations.

YAK- Do you think the SimWorld fictional draft classes will translate to your roster?

Good to see those guys are back at it this year. They do great work!

Yes, they should work great with this roster. I'm looking forward to using them myself.

Besides the simword ones would you recommend any other draft class for this Roster?
                            Just my curiosity

Making more progress every day on the roster. The v0.3 version is still a living roster file (updated more times a week than I can keep track of) so you can all stay updated by downloading a fresh copy at any point.

About 80% of the roster's scales/formulas are finished and based upon real NBA data (2016-2019) and my custom roster scales for the 2K game engine. The other 10-20% will have to wait for 2K20 since the data sources are either incomplete (lost access to Synergy data and real-time play-by-play logs this season which forced me to find new data) or require too much development time to get the roster out this month.

I've finished about 60% of the edits on the v0.3 roster file. It takes about an hour to manually edit each attribute/tendency/badge across the league using this data which means there are still around 100 hours of in-game editing left to be done. I've got some time to focus on this for a week or so, but still think 2 weeks was/is a best case scenario.

I'm updating playbooks constantly based on game film sessions, scouting notes/videos, and play testing so those will always be a living version even after v1.0 drops. I was hoping to see more plays added to the playbooks by now, but will have to work with what we have for now. There are a lot of DHO, Spain, Flow, and other concepts that aren't really represented well in the game yet so some teams will have overlap on playbooks to get them to run those actions well. Hopefully we get other playbook updates before the All-Star break.

Re: 2K19: Return of The Sim Roster

On the Sliders side, I've almost given up on reproducing actual NBA pace and explosive athleticism without it overpowering reaction time.

My next slider set will have a lower Game Speed which takes some adjustment to get used to the slow-mo animations, but makes up for it with more consistent results based on actual ratings/badges instead of taking advantage of animation glitches and speed/acceleration to win.

If anyone wants to stay at a higher Game Speed to maintain a realistic pace of action, then the v0.3-SS sliders with Shot attributes at 47 should be good to continue to use. The high Body Up Sensitivity and Strength sliders in that slider set are used to keep players from running around using athleticism as their only advantage on offense.
