Yes I replied to that thread also. Yes, Pierce is not a star on the Celtics (neither are Ray-Ray and KG). I'll tell you this, using the trade finder with the Pistons association-style, you can get Garnett and Pierce, they WILL not find an acceptable offer for Rondo (or any of pretty much the top 17-19 top players when sorted by potential.) Blake Griffin and Al Jefferson were pretty much the first guys that they would offer any sort of deal at all, for some background.

I agree from the real-life standpoint, the Celtics would never trade Pierce. He is a STAR in Boston. NBA2k just doesn't work that way. Very few teams even have stars but they are nigh impossible to trade for.

It is a huge problem in MyPlayer though, that you don't wind up on teams that NEED you. Then Pierce never gets traded in that scenario because he isn't all of the sudden pissed that he's getting 12 minutes because of a 58 overall SF with insane potential.

Gotta give some props though. The game pays WAY more attention to it's cap positioning then it ever did before. The Pierce deal in question with a SF on the Celtics is actually good AI, even it doesn't fit in with the "player who is a legend and will never be traded" mold. He's playing 12 minutes and he just re-upped multiyear and I believe he's 34. (sorry Celtic Fans, I'm not googling it.)

But, in that case, in a dynamic and flowing video game scenario trying to be a sim, it is pretty good that they see at that point (12 mpg) that he is far overpriced and now pissed off, and is locked in for years. Makes sense to part with this asset while it still has value.

Traded to the Cavs, asked for a trade because Mo is our biggest talent.

So they trade me TO THE JAZZ? I'm sorry, but there's at least 10 teams that should NEVER trade for a PG. (Here's 10 - New Orleans, Boston, Utah, Zombie Sonics, Washington, Phoenix, San Antonio, Minnesota, Chicago, and Indiana.)

Think about this. If you win the starting job at point on any of these teams you have the following 10 players out of commission or at least "getting ruined" in Chris Paul, Rajon Rondo, Deron Williams, Russell Westbrook, John Wall, Steve Nash, Tony Parker, Jonny Flynn, Derrick Rose, and Darren Collison. Do not take those in any particular order, but for one I heard Jonny Flynn becomes an absolute beast in this game. The only other thing you could say is the advancing age of Nash and Parker, but Parker's still only like 30, and you still would hate to bench Nash in Phoenix.

I'm seriously contemplating starting over with the autosave off, until I get drafted by a team that actually NEEDS my point guard. For instance, when I was traded to the Jazz, the Lakers were one of my LISTED destinations and they were the #1 of the interested teams. They NEED a point. That's why they were #2 on my list (I had the Pistons just because I don't care about wrecking anyone on our crappy team and its my hometown.) - the Lakers, and the Blazers. Lakers and Blazers need a quality point.

Jamario Moon and I both went in the deal to Utah for CJ Miles. I think I will just ride out the year in Utah with a chance to win and some quality damn teammates, and then take my choice in free agency after the first year and be done with it. Just kind of sucks that the My Player coaches/GM's have no idea how to draft/trade based on the needs of the roster/future.

Cleveland got rid of Jamison for me and a 1st rounder. Just sucks that I'm on my 3rd team in like 17 games in the NBA, and know I might stuff one of the top 3 PG's in the league on the bench real soon here.
scouting doesnt seem to be at all high in this game and it should be fixed...aside from the notion of ruining a person's particular career...i am a PG for the Bulls and Derrick Rose has since been a starter at SG....he didnt get benched for me to start...his stats are relatively the same with a few minuses in terms of scoring...probably like 3 points less than his average but his assists is actually higher than what he had when he was playing PG....we still split the PG role occasionally in each game so that's convenient...

for the most part i like my team in chicago but i may move to portland in the offseason if the opportunity presents itself...that was the team i wanted to be drafted by in the first place...

OK, see - that's different and I hope you are still here. I had heard of players who were (in my case) drafted by Oklahoma City as PG's. Now, in the early-going it was GREAT. When I came in, they played me at point and moved Westbrook to the 2 (which is his natural position.)

Now, I had read on here by the MANY people who get drafted by the Thunder, that if you play the point, they bury Westbrook behind you and Harden. I have a save DIRECTLY after the draft right as I'm about to play my NBA game. If you're telling me that once you won the job, your solid player went to the 2 (as Westbrook should do) - I'm only like 15 NBA games in, I wouldn't mind restarting from game 1 whatsoever. Thanks!

EDIT: I meant already done with the Summer League, not just after the draft.

Again, back to the 'star' role....is westbrook a 'star?' i dont think they would bench him if he was...

in my case, derrick rose is in fact a designated 'star' player who was out and missed 4-6 weeks with a broken ankle...during that time i managed to get my medium range shooting high enough that i could easily score points and make a name for myself....passing was always easy...so i started at the PG position for that time....when he recovered from his injury he was automatically placed at the SG slot and havent moved since...im in the eastern conference finals right now...

there's also the case of Harden...is he good enough to the point where they wouldnt bench him? i mean i had ronnie brewer as a starting SG...it shouldnt really be much of a decision to place either Rose or my player over that guy...even if i was a measly 57 overall at the time....he now comes off the bench so everything worked out fine...

Re: Your Myplayer Career (NBA 2K11)

Continuing on in My Player mode, my SG (6'6", 19) has played 7 games in the D-League, I believe he scored 12, 15, 9, then I saw people talk about turning Q length up to 12, I did so, and he's dropped 28,28,30,30,30 off the bench, and is usually around the B- to A region, got an A+ last game with 30 pts, 4 reb, 8 assist, and 2 blocked shots

I hope they put a rookie mode in for this, because this is the first basketball game I've played, and it's got so many complex options, that I just try like hell to drive to the lane almost every time xD

                Westbrook is not a star but he's a young 81 or 82 with A+ potential, Harden's is also good but he's like a 74.

if more than one person(who actually is playing with the thunders) is saying that westbrook will get taken from the starting lineup...it would be safer to follow their words and just be on another team or do another draft...

derrick rose is only like an 85 so it's just slightly a bit higher than westbrook but he is a star....and ronnie brewer is like significantly rated lower than Harden....so it's somewhat understandable how things panned out the way it did for mode...

it's really up to you at this point

just a fair warning...in 2k10...during my second season i averaged like 24 apg...and at the end of the season, the game glitched up and didnt credit me with the assists(either less than what i had or none at all)....so for those who are overzealous passers as well...let's hope it doesnt somehow affect 2k11

yeah i know in MLB2k10 if you hit too many HR / RBI (i believe 200+ HR / 400+ RBI), it turns negative... I had a guy hit the negative marker for HR, and almost get it positive, it was pretty insane how easy that game is.

Note to myself : Be carefull what your wishing for!

Ask for a trade after Del Negro wouldn't play me at C for a game. After the game, ask for a trade, and then Del Negro would start to play me more at C.

Been 3 times the player of the game, started to get on a groove with Griffin and Aminu, and bam, just got traded!

Got to leave LA for Cleveland!

I really like this game! :-)

I"m now on the bucks (2nd season) I started on the Lakers for a few games, but just didn't want to be there - I want to go to a team I don't mind that isn't already amazing and help build it by asking for certain players.

Anyway, anyone confirm yet if you can manually alley-oop (as in you slam)? Or putback dunks?

I am about 50 games into my career as a 3pt specialist on the Thunder.

People say they are worried about Westbrook, 'ruining' him by having him ride the bench behind them. What I have discovered is that just playing on the same team ruins him. I don't know if its just an issue of tendancies, but the guy will do absolutely everything to avoid passing the ball. He averages about 5 assists on 6 minute quarters, but takes about 15-20 shots per game (for those familiar with advanced stats, his Usage rate is over 30, which is Allen Iverson at his most intense). He typically drives the lane, meets 3 defenders and shoots a contested fadeaway for a miss. Thus his shooting percentage hovers under %40 and his ratings decline. It seems like when he's shooting badly he does this even more often! I noticed when I played a career on the Nets that Devin Harris played the same way (only he took more 3s). Rondo had a similar issue and his ratings tanked severely when I tried the Celtics. Is point guard just broken? I have noticed that AI teams don't seem to have this problem so much. Chris Paul definitely looks for the pass when I play the Hornets, for example.

I supposedly am able to call plays but since I never play point (I'm a 6'6 SG so usually they stick me at SF as a second position), I never seem to be able to. Is the AI calling plays at all? Cause they don't seem to be running them.

I like playing for the Grizzlies because my players look to pass to me, only a few of them chuck up shots on a few occasions per match. Randolph and Gasol only really attempts shots when I play the pick and roll and at that stage they would find it nearly impossible to miss!
