Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
For the 2nd year in a row, I'm steady mobbin' with the KINGS.
But this year, I've made numerous deals to get players to fit my system of play and free up dow for the summer.
Fired Westpaul. Hired a coach that graded "A" in defense and teaching.
Here is the roster, currently 23-3 on Superstar level, 10 minutes:
Evans/Dragic/Smush Parker
Grant Hill/Thadeus Young/Sasha Vul.
Shane Battier/J. Jeffries
Caspi/Darnell Jackson
Cousins/Tyson Chandler
In D.League - Hassan Whiteside
-----------------------------
*Evans is a top 5 candidate for MVP. Dude is at 23ppg, 12 apg, 5 rpg, 2 spg. Can't shoot a 3 to save his life, but that's something to work on for future.
*Smush Parker is a BEAST. I don't know if its him, or my system. Either way, he's an asset on the team. So is Darnell Jackson, who's role will increase now that Jason Thompson is gone.
*I'm trying to get Casspi to me a poor man's Dirk mixed with Hedo, but he's ineffective after taking his 13th shot or so in a game, and his handle ain't great just yet... But its my goal to develop him. So I guess it'll come with time. He's just not ready to put up 20 shots a game. But he's a great "pick and pop" threat, and better man to man defender than I thought
*I love this team defensively. I mirror the Celtics way of team defending.
*I just traded Jason Thompson and 3 2nd round picks for Thadeus Young tonight, because (hold your breath here) Grant Hill went down with an ankle sprain last game. Out 5 weeks, and he and Battier set the tone defensively on the perimeter and are huge slice of my playing philosophy.
Hopefully Young can come in an fill that role. He seems like a perfect fit, and Philly wasn't using him as they promised him (moral low).
*Young, Hill, Parker, Battier, Chandler, Jeffries, and Vujacic are in the last year of their deals... Dragic and Jackson have team options. So, its gonna be wheeling and dealing time in the summer, which I always love.Comment

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
I did a fantasy draft. These people get minutes for my team:
PG: John Wall
SG: Arron Afflalo
SF: Dorell Wright
PF: Lamarcus Aldridge
C: Kevin Love
6: Jason Terry
7: Damion James
8: Deandre Jordan
9: Earl Boykins
10: Charlie Frye
just finished a good game against the Heat. We were able to pull it out 103-97 despite Kevin Durant going off for 32 points, 4 rebounds, and 10 assists. No one could stay in front of him and he got 9 fts and hit every one.
Anyone know any good sliders for allstar setting? The shooting % is too high for my liking (58% and 54%) and the bigs don't really get enough rebounds. Thanks in advanceComment

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
2-4 with NYK after a ridonkulous loss to th Wizards, uop 20 late 3rd.
lost 91-89
pathetic.
due to a weird glitch which has Chandler supposedly splitting time between LA/NY and caused all his stats to be really low [dont know what happened there].i am trading him.
heres the trade i see for Ill Will that I like but need opinions:
NYK Sends: Chandler 80 ovl and his expiring, And Tony Douglas and his 4 mil 2 year contract
Denver Sends
: ty lawson with his A+ potential and 75 overall along with former knick Renaldo Balkman who has a few years left on his contract which might ruin my chances to run for Carmelo.
but, id like to see him back as the hustle man when turiaf leaves.
plus I think Ty couold turn into the replacement for Felton.
whats ur thoughts on the trade guys, and anyone there seeing Ty do good things in 2k11?
man that loss PO'd me big time.
still reeling from it.Comment

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
I started an association with the Kings. I traded Evans and some other pieces to get Wall. First year was a struggle. I ended up with the 5th pick in the draft. I cleared a lot of cap space to try and get Melo. I didn't get him but I signed about 2 good players and 2 above average ones. I took Terrance Jones and I also had the 20th pick or so. I took Enes Kanter as well. My starting five after year one was:
Pg: Wall
Sg: Azubuike
SF: Prince
PF: Jones
C: Cousins
I took those 4 players and ended up with 2 first round picks so I could continue to have a young team.
Now after year 3 my team looks like:
PG: Wall/ Marquis Teague (rookie)
SG:Allen (old) (Teague starts at 2 but is really a 1)
SF: Roy/Gilchrist/Hamilton
PF: Jones/Kanter/Hayes
C: Cousins/Kanter/Hayes
In year 3 Wall dominates. He is almost impossible to guard and I am able to open outside shots with other players. Cousins is a beast on offense and defense. Kanter has a very nice med range shot. Jones is a hard matchup for most 4s in the league. Against teams like L.A. with a lot of size I put Kanter in at the 4 and then give Jones some time at the 3 and put Roy at the 2. My team is pretty versatile and can play with anyone. Im, a big UK fan so I had to get the UK guys on one team.Comment

Philly did give up a lot, but it's more than worth it to get rid of that absolutely terrible contract Elton Brand has. Plus, losing Igoudala in FA and replacing him with Granger isn't bad either. Well done.
Glad to see you updating again btw. I really like your's and Jeremy's updates.
And I'm guessing I missed your 1st season Mavs playoff update when I clicked the "first unread post" button. Gonna go back and check on that.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
I bought the game and started with the New York Knicks. I'm 10-5, coming off two embarrassing losses to the Warriors (who nearly beat me in the beginning of the season) and the Clippers.
My starting line-up as of right now
PG: Felton
SG: Fields
SF: Gallinari
PF: Stoudemire
C: Randolph
Chandler got hurt in the 4th game of the season but is due back any day. I'm going to start him over Gallinari since he can sustain scoring over longer stretches and he plays pretty good defense. Turiaf is probably going to take Randolph's spot, after Randolph got dominated by the Warriors and Clippers bigs in the past two games.
I'm not going to make any trades yet, since my team is playing pretty good and the chemistry seems to be improving week after week.
So far my big 3 has been Stoudemire, Fields, and Felton. I can consistently get pts, rebounds, and assist out of all 3 and in rotationals they're usually the catalysts. Felton's ability to drive the lane and kick it out is ideal for this team as I can find an open shooter. Fields is so much fun to play with, you can drive the lane with him or just take the J. He's versatile and a big key to us winning the first 10 out of 15. Amare is just a beast. He can score, he can rebound, he's top 10 in blocks. He's the leading scorer on my team and 5th in the league.
My disappointments thus far have been Randolph, Gallinari, Azubiake and Douglass. Gallinari is the only one out of those four who can kind of get hot for a stretch, but he's far too inconsistent. Randolph can rebound but he can't get any good putbacks and against some teams he's nearly invisible. Kelenna is just...damn. He misses so many wide open shots it's ridiculous (I use Real FG%). Toney Douglass just turns the ball over so much. Many easy passes I make with Felton are usually picked off if I attempt them with Douglass. So when he comes in and is running the offense, we almost certainly have to slow our pace.
All in all having a fun time so far. Can't wait to get Chandler back and to really cut into the Celtics lead.Comment

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
Team: Atlanta Hawks
Year: 1
So I just passed the All-Star break. I was really excited to play the All-Star game because a few weeks before, it looked like Josh Smith would start and Horford and Joe Johnson would be reserves. I stopped looking at the votes, especially when Horford had a huge voting lead of Brook Lopez. Smith and Johnson both missed a couple of weeks with injuries, so Horford's numbers were great during their absence.
THEY ALL THREE GOT SNUBBED! Smith is in the running for DPOTY, damn it. Well, we took that fire and put it to good use and beat the #1 Power Ranking Lakers (dunno why they are above the Heat). Kobe was like 6-20 courtesy of Jamal Crawford's stifling defense.
The Louis Williams trade has been good and bad. Losing Marvin Williams has really hurt my rotation because I have a lot of solid PFs on the bench and no good SFs. I mostly use Johnson and Josh Smith at the 3, taking one out early to rest them. Brackins has been a nice edition and is emerging as my best big man off the bench (Leon Powe is getting unhappy, which sucks because he played well before he got hurt...and Josh Powell played really well when Powe was hurt and now Powell is hurt and now Brackins plays well...what a mess). Louis is playing well and seems like a future PG (sixth man for now), although he plays a bit more like Crawford than a pure PG.
PG: Bibby/L. Williams
SG: Crawford/L. Williams/ Jo. Crawford
SF: Johnson/Smith/Damion Wilkins
PF: Smith/Horford/Brackins/Powe/Powell (inj)
C: Horford/Pachulia/Powe
5th in the East right now, hoping to have a good and healthier second half. Anybody got any ideas on what to do with all my PFs?Comment

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
Started an association with the Knicks, decided to sim 2 seasons and get some draft picks, In the 1st year of my association, We made to playoffs as a 7th seed, we had to face the Miami, i simmed the whole round where we took them to 7 games but lost.
i got 5 draft picks where. I drafted Perry Jones, Harrison Barnes, Kyrie Irving, Kyle Singler and Ricky RUbio i also got a second round pick where i drafted Renardo Sidney, i then decided to sim the whole 2nd season and suprisingly, i did not make the playoffs, Through this season i made some trades
i got 2 1st round picks where I picked Austin Rivers and Michael Gilchrist
Now my roster in 2012-2013 looks like this

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
Season one
Miami Heat
Pro/Custom 12 minute quarters
Play all 82 games for my team.
The Heat has taken a commanding 3-1 lead in the NBA Finals. Chris Bosh a big goat in the first 2 games who came alive in game 3 exploded for 40 points and 17 boards in game 4 as he paced the Heat to a blowout 21 point victory at the American Airlines Arena. The Spurs never were in the game from the opening tip.
Miami is looking to wrap things up tonight for what the team hope is the first of many titles.
After this season I am bumping up to All-Star difficulty. Now Playing on PS5:

Re: How's Your Association Going? (2K11)
I got this game last week, and bear with me I know NOTHING about basketball. I probably haven't watched an entire game since the 1993 Houston Rockets.
I am doing a 29-game season. I played the first game against the Sacramento Kings on rookie level, and Yao had 27 points and 8 rebounds. I won that game going away by at least 30. Then in the second game I had to play against the Atlanta Hawks. I bumped it up to Pro Level. Holdy crap I got killed. I only scored 68 points, and I think I gave up 90+. I was like 1 for 12 from the free throw line ( I have since switched the real life ft% mode), so I probably would have only like by 15 or so.
I figure the average NBA game is probably like 100-100, so I am going to move to 12 minute quarters.Comment
