No problems here straightforward trade for two role-players/fringe starters.

How is this big blockbuster trade?

        Hornets- Danny Granger, James Posey

Pacers- Al Jefferson, Quincy Pondexter, 1st rounder (Hornets)

Jazz- Trevor Ariza, Jason Richardson, Jason Smith

Why the Hornets do it- The Hornets get their 3rd star that can put them in a position to become a competitive playoff team. They get James Posey who can come off the bench and be a solid defender and 3pt shooter.

Why the Pacers do it- The Pacers get Jared Dudley who can be a knock down 3 point shooter off the bench. They can also start Paul George and give him more playing time since he has a lot of potential. They also get the PF they always needed by getting Al Jefferson who is naturally a PF.

Why the Jazz do it- With Enes Kanter and Memet Okur, the Jazz already have a pretty good front court. They get a deeper team with Ariza and Jason Richardson taking over their starting SG and SF positions. They get a chance to develop Enes Kanter by giving him more playin time.

No way Indy would do this trade. Granger is their franchise player, they would have to get a whole lot more then Big Al, a prospect, and a 1st round pick that will not be a lottery pick since NO is already good enough to make a legit run at a low playoff seed, and now gaining Granger. That pick stands to be the pick of a 5-6 seed playoff team.

Larry Bird would have to be drinking hard to make this trade, and we aren't talking about the good stuff...

Wow, and then the Jazz get raped. They give up Big Al for a past his prime J-Rich? Ariza is good, but Jason Smith? The Jazz would need A LOT more in return in either picks or youth to develop, or else they only gain Ariza after letting go of Big Al. No trade

Alright thanks for the honest reply. Can you think of a trade the Hornets can make to net a star or a pretty good player that can turn them into a legit contender?

Lets see. That is a good question. To start you would have to iron out who HAS to stay. For example:

              PG: CP3
              SG:
              SF:
              PF:
              C:

I obviously put CP3 up there but the rest is debatable. Personally I feel like Okafor is staying because getting rid of him and his contract would more or less be a dump. Thats not what you need.

Ariza is tough. Part with him or not? What is his trade value?

How about this, get the trade values of the Hornets players and post your current roster and we will see what can be negotiated. There is always a way to make things happen but I am unfamiliar with all of the assets on NO.

Re: The Official Rate My Trade Thread

Ok so David West will hopefully resign since the only two teams that need a PF are Indiana and New Jersey but I think New Orleans is the best fit for him. Here are all the other current Hornets players.

PG- Jarret Jack, Marcus Banks (Expiring)
SG- Jason Richardson (Signed through Free Agency), Marco Belinelli, Willie Green
                SF- Trevor Ariza, Quincy Pondexter
PF- David West, Carl Landry, Jason Smith
C- Emeka Okafor, Aaron Gray, DJ Mbenga

I'll list them from most value to least.
                1. David West- Hes a former All Star and is still really consistent and can put up nearly 20 and 8 a game. He is the other player besides CP3 that the Hornets should keep.
                2. Carl Landry- He is probably one of the best PF that isnt 6 10 or taller. He uses his speed to beat other big men and get to the rim. He is really good off the bench.
                3. Jarret Jack- He was a starter in Toronto. He is a possible starter in the league and can shoot the ball. I'd say hes alot like Kyle Lowry in a way.
                4. Trevor Ariza- He is known for his defense and can be a starter for many teams. His only problem is hes very streaky on offense.
                5. Jason Richardson- He is a solid starter and can still contribute in many ways such as getting to the rim and shooting 3's. Only problem is hes pretty old so he'd have to go to a contender.
                6. Quincy Pondexter- He has a lot of potential and is a good all around player. He can shoot the three, make the mid range shot, and get to the hoop. His defense is alright as well. His potential rating is like around 80 in the game.
                7. Emeka Okafor- Hes one of the top centers at rebounding and defense. He is a solid starting center. The only problem is his huge contract which still has like 2 or 3 yrs left. He would most likely not get traded but many teams without a good center might take him.
                8. Marco Belinelli- He's a good 3pt shooter and hes alright at defense too. Hes like a Peja-lite. Hes most likely a fringe starter or a role player.
                9. Willie Green- Hes a solid role player. He can defend and shoot the three. He'd be a good toss in for a trade involving big names.
                10. Aaron Gray- Hes actually a very underrated center. He is a beast on the boards and can finish near the rim with his weight and size. Hes a 7 footer that has potential.
                11. Jason Smith- Hes an ok 3rd string PF. Alot of players can do what he does which is shoot the mid range shot. Hes also a 7 footer.
                12. Marcus Banks and DJ Mbenga- Expiring Contracts

Indiana has actively been shopping Danny Granger for a year plus now they'd easily make the trade, they were willing to give up Granger basically for Derrick Williams who has yet to even play an NBA game. He's not as untouchable as before, the only player they'd absolutely not trade as it stands is Roy Hibbert, everyone else is expendable.

Well that is a good point. I guess since I was not a fan of that logic in regards to the D-Will trade, I tend to disregard it as a legit line of thinking. Now that I look at the layout, this would be a potential lineup for Indy after that trade:

                    Collison
                    SG
                    George
                    Jefferson
                    Hibbert

The only hole now is at the SG slot but thats definitely one thing Indy has in Rush, Jones, and Stephenson.

But what about the Jazz in that proposed trade? Give up Big Al for Ariza? I feel like he has a lot more value then that if the Jazz were looking to move him

Re: The Official Rate My Trade Thread

The Jazz have a glut of front court players. They're high on Enes Kanter and Derrick Favors for obvious reasons Al Jefferson isn't exactly untouchable he's a slow PF or almost defensively anemic Center. Either which way you can give up the undersized Millsap or the confounding Jefferson. Either which way the Jazz can live without one and they desperately need a solid starting Small Forward as Kirelinko is gone after this season and Gordon Hayward is still a work in progress.

If you're going the route of post draft rosters, the Jazz are missing Alec Burks who would probably 2nd or 3rd on the 2-Guard depth chart.

Wow, I have to go back on my initial thoughts. This trade actually benefits all teams involved. Looks great. Granger and CP3 should be a fun combo and that will definitely tie CP3 in New Orleans which is exactly what that franchise needs. I feel like I do good at rating most trades, but I will admit I am wrong when I am. Good trade

Thanks alot! I was just worried if it seemed unrealistic since the Hornets are the only team not giving up a big name. Oh your right I forgot to add Alec Burks. The Jazz remind me of the Denver Nuggets after this trade. A really deep team with no main superstar.

                                Bulls get:Serge Ibaka
                                Thunder get:1st round pick(WAS), 63ovr rookie
                                Wizards get :Joakim Noah

I did this because I was paying 50mil for a guy that was doing the same as my back up Center who I was paying only 2mil for and I don't think Joakim is 25times more productive so I sent him packing brought in someone who does the same thing and is more athletic and so much cheaper. I went from being 9mil over the cap till 9mil under the cap so I can resign a few players next year

The Wizards pick will be top 5 and the rookie has B+ potential so its not like the got some slouch

                                Is it fair?
